Tax motorbikes the same as cars

Comment 2nd September 2010

Why do I pay £70approx per year to tax an 1100cc motorcycle that does 60mpg with CO2 emissions of less than 70g – cars that emit this amount pay nothing?

And I take up less space on the road, and do less damage to the road itself.

Curious – or simply another  'if we do this fairly we will lose Revenue'.

Actually I think all vehicles should pay a nominal Road tax (say £25) to cover admin etc for checking Insurance and MOT details, then simply add 2p to a litre of fuel, that way Road Tax dodgers will be stuffed as they presumably do not have the gall to steal petrol, and people pay for their use of the roads more equitably.

Why does this matter?

Equality, and environmental.

Plus avoiods tax dodging.
