Toll all motorways electronically for all cars containing only one person

1 Comment 2nd July 2010

1.  Toll every car containing no more than one person on every motorway in the UK

2.  Use this money to subsidise public transport.

3.  The tolling would be carried out digitally (like an Oyster card) to avoid queuing.

4.  Tolling would also be free for those with low emission cars.

Why does this matter?

Taxpayers shouldn't have to foot the bill for roads they don't use.  As someone who only uses trains and buses, I feel like I'm paying for other people to be in luxury through my taxes.  I'd like to tax all cars on all roads but as a compromise we should allow people to travel for free if they have two or more people in the car or a very low emission car.

One Response to Toll all motorways electronically for all cars containing only one person

  1. John says:

Everything on the road pays road tax. and tax on fuel.

Why not, stop taking the money from that to fund other none motoring needs. and keep it all for road use.

Cars pay for alot more than people do who don’t use them.
