Unregistered VAT Businessess/Sole Traders

Comment 17th July 2010

ALL businesses/sole traders etc should be liable for VAT. At the moment the VAT threshold allows an unfair advantage in particular for the sole trader when tendering for work. They are able to cost work without adding an additional 17.5% (soon to be 20%) for their labour costs. Unlike the small business trying to keep 5/10 employees in work that have to include the VAT in their costings.

It would be a much fairer playing field.

Why does this matter?

While it would be a much fairer system it would also generate additional income for the Government.
