Various early 20th century restrictions

Comment 24th July 2010

A short, eclectic selection of unnecessary, outdated oddities from the last century:

1.  Horticultural Produce (Sales on Commission) Act 1926

2.  Protection of Animals Act 1934

3.  Agricultural Wages Act 1948

4.  Private Places of Entertainment (Licensing) Act 1967

Why does this matter?

Many legal provsions made sense when passed but no longer, and while most have been repealed, others inexplicably, or through political timidity, have not.  Provision for price and wage returns are ludicrous in current conditions and given current practices.  The animal statue has unnecessary breadth and is far better covered by other statutes.
