To keep the 2021 census, but in an abbreviated form

Why is this idea important?

It's very easy to say this data is all available elsewhere, but I'd really like to know where! Having had to do several exercises using the census data recently, I have not seen some of the answers I had to find anywhere else.

Agreed, the present 2011 Census is too large, too time consuming, too intrusive, and too expensive.

But to send a simplified form asking for names, dates of birth, places of birth, occupations, ethnicity, and relationship to the head of the household, would not cost the inflated sums Labour have spent road-testing this Census, and would still provide valuable data. It could also be filled in either on-line or on paper.

It would take less time to fill in, less time to analyse. And still be available to future generations.
