My idea is important because it brings back the liberal UK we had before 1971 and gets rid of the Drugs War which never seems to be won and costs and wastes so much
I would delete the possession of drugs from the 1971 Act (and subsequent amendments).
Drugs should be supplied free of charge on the National Health Service to addicts.
The benefits are:
* huge reduction in crime and therefore savings in police numbers
* reduction in prison numbers
*extinction of drug suppliers (why pay when you can get it free)
*addicts can be treated as patients and helped out of their addiction
There is an additional cost to the National Health Service which must be minimal compared to the savings set out above
