Remove the obligation to collect unpaid council tax from an employee by the employer.

This is a confusing regulation set up differently for the employer than the council. For example the employer is expected to deduct money according to a complicated table.

The Council is expected to allocate the money differently if there are more than one attachment of earnings in operation leading to confusion about when bills have been completed.

Why is this idea important?

This regulation is one of many that make a divide between employers and employees if they are forced to deduct money from wages.

It creates a lot of extra work, not only deducting the money but making sure it is sent to the correct council by the correct date.

It is a costly exercise to business each month costing time, postage, stationery. It takes time liasing with the councils to make sure they are allocating payments correctly.
