Local Authorities should provide Urban Fox Control

Lets face it, in urban areas the foxes are getting out of control and nobody is willing to do anything about it.

Wrecking gardens, digging under properties, fouling our schools, attacking our pets, livestock and even reports of urban foxes attacking children & adults.

Boris Johnson said the local councils should start taking pest control more seriously following the attack of the Hackney twins in June 2010.

Has there been any changes or improvements? NO

Spent convictions (minor) should be cleared from the PNC

I would like to see a limit on storing and sharing information about spent convictions after a period of time and believe it minor criminal records should be scraped after a period of time.

I believe the current status recently ammended to expand the data to employers on spent convictions are a disgrace and will allow for discrimination in the workplace for many young people who may have got into a bit of bother as teenagers.

A criminal conviction 20 years ago for theft should not hang around a persons neck as an intrusive life sentence and there should be limitations as to how long the police can hold such information. I am not talking about serious crime like murder or rape etc., CRB checks are in place to protect people at risk, not to continually punish reformed people who may have made a few mistakes many many years ago.

The current status quo in the UK is in my humble opinion unfair, discriminatory and quite frankly disgusting.
Not only is it possibly a breech the Human Rights Act, it makes the notion of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 absolutely worthless.

dwp over 2 years surveillance

the dwp in hull having been carrying out so called covert surveillance for over 2 years (lambwath road) and they are useless at it even using electronic movement systems transmitted from a neighbouring rented house. The police are doing their best to protect the house and lie if challenged by the target-is this the most outrageuos abuse of the RIPA Act, complaints have been made but the agencies just lie. The RIP (OLD FARTS) ARE USELESS SO ITS TIME THE ACT WAS ABOLISHED…HULL DWP USE FLEETS OF NEW CAR RANGE ROVERS, JAGS, MERCS,that cannot be right surley.

Scrap Part P of the Building Regulations

This nasty peice of legislation was passed in 2005, with the usual rushed through knee jerk reaction that went with it.
All in a veiw to make electrical work carried out in domestic properties safer.Yes very fine idea, however why does it cost ridiculous amounts of money payable to Local Building Control or some so called unqualified registered scheme member “Electrician(I use that term lightly)Needs to be scrapped ASAP. Let common sence prevail,I thought the nanny state was dead?

Increase citizenship fee for immigrants

We are told that it is beneficial for a student to pay £27000 in student fees to become a graduate.

I suggest that a very large fee be introduced in order to become a British citizen. Payable up front would be a good idea, too.

Perhaps £27000?

There is a large benefit in becoming a graduate, but there is probably a larger benefit in becoming a British citizen.

VCR Act 2007 – Two Tone Airsoft Law

I think that the law is pretty much useless. you can buy realistic air pistols and revolvers without a UKARA, but the government says that this section of the act will cut down on robberies. it won’t, they say youths will use a realistic airsoft weapon to simulate a real one in a theft. however, you can buy replica pistols which aren’ t two tone for the same price/less than most airsoft weapons.

Charity Shops should be assigned a Planning Class

Charity Shops should be assigned a building class under the Town and Country Planning Act.

This would allow towns to better control the location of charity shops within each “centre”.

Remove food hygiene ratings

most peoples idea of food hygiene is cleanliness however this is not the way the councils enviromental health agents see it they
rate you much lower if you do not fill in the required forms.
yet since the hccap system was introduced in 2006 incidents of food poisioning have actually increased which i believe shows
that filling in forms does not make you safe.

Energy Performance Certificates

We own a single property which is available for holiday lets throughout the year. Can you explain why I need an energy performance certificate? Do you think my guests are really interested? Do they not just want to enjoy their holiday? This is just an additional expense and regulation placed upon property owners for no additional benefit to anyone other than the contractor carrying out an inspection and is completely needless, unlike fire assessments and landlord’s gas certificates. I can see that many owners, such as ourselves will decide to discontinue providing holiday accommodation if the burden from regulations becomes, as it seems, ridiculous.

Single Police caution must be removed from Enhanced CRB after 3 years

one- minor- single-first- mistake-misunderstanding and a police caution for life its completely unfair..this way caution becomes lifetime punishment..every day one has to live with caution…depression…humiliation…for single mistake for life..job prospect becomes limited lead to frustration and unemployment..UK police… Government must give positive chance for single -minor mistakes cautions and must not punish any one to suffer every day and night with it ..else caution is life time punishment not slap on wrist and ruining life for single mistake is not right – single caution must be removed from Enhanced CRB after 3 years to allow and support victim of caution to live normal life and not made them suffer for lifetime..its unfair if you don’t give enough support and chance to live normal life after single mistake

Protection of burglars’ identity

We continue to see reports in our local paper of burglars convicted, and asking for large numbers of other offences to be taken into consideration. Most have a record of similar offences stretching back years. Yet police are apparently not allowed to confirm or release the identity of these people to, for example neighbourhood watches.

Offenders with long histories should lose their rights to privacy, with their identity released to Neighbourhood Watches.

Rogue Freeholders

If Rogue Freeholders commit criminal acts they should be arrested and charged. This would make them think twice about breaching peoples leases, extortion, invalid insurance or bordereaux insurance rip offs. Also issuing false (fraud) invoices and threatening people if they question anything or stand up to them.

Criminal and fraudulent acts that are committed with the knowledge that they will be protected if found out and exposed.
Currently it is evident that these people can do as they choose and are protected – Councils/Police/LVT etc etc… the bigger the Landlord the more protection they have.

Laws on Nudity

The laws on nudity in public are too ambiguous and open to personal interpretation by local magistrates. It should be clear and unambiguous – either it is an offence to be naked in public or it is not. Proof of intent is virtually impossible to prove or disprove.

Abolish Bank Holiday bus lane fines

I have received a penalty charge notice for being in a bus lane on a Bank Holiday Monday.

A bank holiday is, for all other purposes, equivalent to a Sunday and bus timetables reflect this too. Local authorities (eg: Ealing in West London) should not be allowed to penalise motorists simply because the authority has not passed a byelaw confirming that a Bank Holiday should be treated the same as a Sunday for road traffic act purposes.

The rationale for bus lanes is to speed the flow of buses not to penalise otherwise law abiding citizens.

Repeal current unrealistic Drink Driving Laws, but enforce Drunken Driver Laws.

For the common good, there is a need to repeal current unrealistic Drink Driving Laws, but certainly a need to enforce Drunken Driver Laws.

Why the current drink driving limits and the even more preposterous “Zero Tolerance” or “Not a Drop” measures are beyond all logic; and to think that people vote for these clowns???

The human body produces alcohol naturally… end of story, but I must go on!

Endogenous ethanol production is the term for alcohol being produced naturally within the body through fermentation of its contents in the gut. Depending on diet and other factors; up to about one ounce or 3 grams of pure ethanol (alcohol) is produced within the body each day. That amount equals almost two standard drinks of beer, wine or liquor.

Catabolic degradation of ethanol is essential to life, not only to humans, but to almost all living organisms, hence when you put your favourite alcoholic beverage to your lips your body says, Ooh, thank you so much!

Additionally, there is a condition known as “auto-brewery syndrome”, where intestinal overgrowth of Candida or other yeasts in the gut, eat our bodily sugars and convert them into pure ethanol (alcohol, which is absorbed directly into the bloodstream and is sometimes rather large quantities equivalent to having several drinks of beer, wine or liquor. This is most common in people who have been on long-term antibiotics or immunosuppressant drugs and there are hundreds of thousands of people in the UK on long-term antibiotics and who have Candida or other yeast infections, and many more people that don’t even know they have the infections. People with this condition, who eat large amounts of carbohydrates such as rice, can actually feel drunk after eating, and chronic fatigue is the most common symptom, hence why you usually feel sleepy after a meal.

Just like most laws, they are conjured up by a handful of individuals with an ulterior purpose and not for the purpose to which they lead you to believe, i.e., “saving lives”. Politicians couldn’t give a damn about preventing injuries or saving people’s lives, other than their own. As usual, they do not consult with any experts in the particular field for which the purpose of the law will affect, i.e., the ambulance and fire services who have battled with politicians for years to remove speed humps as they are putting more lives at risk than they are saving, and yet the local authorities are still installing them, blatantly obvious, to keep people in jobs and to line their own pockets. Politicians rely purely on the scaremongering tactics that they have systematically inflicted on the masses, they don’t need to follow ‘due process protocols’ and they don’t want any expert involvement because it would expose the ulterior motive’ behind the laws they wish to implement.

Right to choose smoking or non smoking

Whilst I agree that non smokers should have a right to choose a non smoking environment, smokers and pubs should also have the right to choose otherwise.

Pubs should be able to apply for a licence for smoking, which would be reviewed similarly to other licences such as opening hours and entertainment etc.

The effect of the smoking ban is well known, with smaller, local pubs going out of business.  This is pushing drinkers into large town centre pubs, contributing to the violence and disorder often seen in and around these pubs.

There is also increasing evidence for a link between higher rates of domestic violence and the smoking ban.  Just Google this if you don’t believe it!

By allowing the licensing authorities to decide which pubs can have smoking areas it would be easier to control drinking areas and behaviour.

Similarly, where sole traders use their vehicle for work, they should be allowed to apply for an exemption to smoke in their vehicles.

An outright ban is undemocratic and unfair on those that do want to smoke.  Non smokers can go to non smoking pubs, smokers can go to smoking areas in smoking pubs.  Everyone happy?
