Abolish school dinners!

The state has an obligation to provide education for children, but why should it have to feed them too? An enormous amount of the education budget is spent on catering and food standards are constantly being criticised.

Simply rearrange the school day to start a bit earlier, say 8 o'clock, and finish at 2 so pupils can go home and eat lunch there. This happens on the continent and frees schools from an enormous and costly burden.

It is the parents' responsibility to feed their child, not the state's, and schools can devote their time and their budgets purely on education.

Why is this idea important?

Improve health by applying VAT to some foods

This is the perfect way to improve public health and raise revenue.

Just apply the standard rate VAT to all processed or packaged foods while raw or basic ingredients remain tax free. The nation's eating habits will improve overnight!

However, the question is: how far is the govt in the pocket of the food production/supermarket industries? They have already sabotaged plans for the clear labelling of food products. Hmmmm……..
