Rehabilitation in prison

All prosons should have a rehabilitation centre to enable the prisoners to try and get help for the cries they have commited. Giving prisoners this opportunity would allow them to realise what they did was wrong and then as they spend there time serving for what they did they can learn the wrongs and rights , in hope that this will prevent future reofending as this is a major issue for britains prisoners.

Also, prisoners should study or leanr manual skills whilst serving their time so that when they are relieved from prison they have the right qualifications to do well if lie which could just be enough to turn around someone and give them hope that even though they messed up now they can do something in their life. Also, by completing such work in prison it will show future employers that yes thy spent time in prison but they have been reformed and now want to make something of their life instead of going on benifits and then returning to a life of crime.

Why is this idea important?

A life sentence should mean life

Stories are always being heard of vicious, cold blooded killers and rapists having their sentences reduced under 'good behaviour'. These people have committed dispicticable crimes and taken the lives of innocent people so why should they be let off?

Imagine if someone close to you had been murdered or raped and then you learnt that the moster who committed such an act was being let out early , despite been given a mandatory life sentence. Life should mean Life. If they can committ such an act i dont believe they can change and so they should serve their full sentence and let justice be served. How can someone that has committed such a horrendous act posibly show good behaviour? They might not argue with other prisioners or tey might clean up their rooms extra tidy but that does now allow them to half their entence halved for the murder or rape of a innocent person.

However, if evidence comes to proove the person is innocent then i totally agree with them being released as this would be a terrible miscarrige of justice. Futhermore, circumstances would have to be looked at , such as if the murder was caused by duress or other reasons that would see if fine to let the defendant off.

Overall, if someone has intentionally committed an act of murder or rape they should have to serve the full length of their sentence even if they show `good behaviour' or not.

Make euthanasia legal

The law so far is that even if your loved one is severly mentally and physically disabled which  will prevent them from being independent or doing anything in their llife, it is illegal if they decide or the carer/ family relative decides it would be easier to end their lives. People travel to clinics in Switzerland to do so but they know when they return they will be prosecuted for helping their loved oe with their wish, to stop the pain and suffering of the patient and on their family.

The law needs to change to make this legal, however under certain circumtances as im aware this could led to people forcing people to sign documents saying they wish to die. Therefore their should be strict rules in place to make sure every euthansia related death has been approved by government and their has been several witnesses that say its the patients wish to commit an act of euthanasia.

I am no expert of this subject, im just a 16year old student, but i feel very strongly about it and feel that something has to be done.
