Reforming the Benefits system

Britain is over burderened with too many people, claiming the wrong type of benefits, the reason for this is that Job centre workers, are not properly trained and just hand out what they feel is applicable, we need each job centre worker, to take on specific cases and see those through to completion, as some one who has had to recently claimed benefits, it is so frustrating to have to repeat yourself over and over again to different people, having to produce the same evidence to so many different people and departments, and never speaking to the same person twice.

it is not always the fault of people that they are unemployed or disabled, but there are those elements in society that abuse the system, and are allowed to do so, because of the shambolic mess the job centres are in, staff do not know individual claimants, and tend to lump every one in the same category, which at times can be extremely insulting and quite soul destroying.

why is it that people can continue to churn out children and expect the state to keep paying for them, my idea is, that after two children there will be no more child allowance and no extra benefits of any kind, people need to take responsibility for there own off spring.

further more, those teenagers that have never worked, and get themselves pregnant as a way of staying out of work, should not be given any benefits of any kind as they have not contributed to the system. I know this is hard line, but I am sick of walking round town and seeing 15-18 year old girls wheeling their kids around in brand new prams/buggies that ordinary hardworking families cannot afford.

On the matter of disability benefits, the person should be dealt with by one caseworker, who they get to know and gets to know them and their individual problems this way I feel is the best way of weeding out false claimants, and its just common sense.

I do not believe that any one who is entering in to this country should be automatically entitled to benefits, and NHS system. A two year qualifying period, where by the person pays tax continuously should be applied be fore any access to benefits should be given, this is not a raciest view, but pure common sense, when at the moment, anyone granted the right to live in this country can then bring in relatives for treatment, and even claim child benefit for children residing in their own country.

Why are we still in the European Union?

Being a member of the European Union costs this country a substantial amount of money reported at an estimated 40 million pounds per day, our laws and budget policies are scrutinised by Europeans, we have no control over immigration within the EU – we are expected to open our doors to anybody, we are stuck with an outdated and unfair human rights act and finally we allow convicted criminals to appeal their sentences at the European court of justice.

My idea is to stop this madness and leave now before we completely lose sovereignty and turn into a bureaucratic arm of a larger and more malignant body of German and French bureaucrats.

Reform the justice system

Prisons

The whole prison and justice system needs to be overhauled urgently. This government seems to think that not all crime is serious when in actually fact the word crime should speak for itself – it is an illegal activity.

The reason why prison does not work is that it is far too soft and prisoners seem to have more human rights than law abiding citizens and their own victims. Therefore I have listed several ideas for toughening up the prisons,

  • Take away games consoles, TV’s and computer access
  • Cut down the amount of social access that criminals enjoy thus preventing gangs forming and drugs trafficking
  • Prisons should be run by the guards not the prisoners
  • Two people to a cell and meals served in the cell reducing contact with other prisoners and reducing the risk of violent conduct
  • No visiting rights, only contact by letters and no telephone calls.
  • Only visits from legal representatives allowed when appeals are in process.
  • Prisons should not be a rehabilitation centre, it should be a punishment and rehabilitation sessions should be carried out at the completion of sentencing
  • There should be no such thing as parole, early release or days and weekend releases. A prisoners should serve the whole sentence handed down by the courts.

Capital punishment

It is so costly to keep prisoners who are a danger to society and should never be allowed out of prison. We are talking about, murders, serial rapists, paedophiles and terrorists, it is about time, that the government sent a clear message to these people, by reintroducing capital punishment.

many people on this site, advocate a public referendum on this issue, to be added to the referendum in May 2011, and I and my family are no different in this opinion.

not the American system where people are kept on death row for years, and if all forensic evidence is consistent, and the crimes proved without doubt, these offenders should be executed within no more than one month.

Too often we allow these people out, to re offend and cause devastation to many families , also they are not only costly to keep, but also seem to be the section most willing to sue the government for beeches of their Human Rights, this is ridiculous, when you see the devastation they cause to society.

Legalise prostitution

Prostitution should be classed as an occupation or straight profession as although there is a small proportion of women trafficked into prostitution, many women do it by choice and see it as a legitimate way to implement their existing skills to earn a living. Look at the Dutch model as prostitution is run by and regulated by local councils; they actually rent out properties to prostitutes and provide police protection and respectability in return for rents and taxes.

A properly regulated red-light district in all major towns and cities would prevent pimping and kerb-crawling which is admittedly a nuisance to residents in communities. With properly regulated prostitution and the provision of suitable premises for rent, girls would no longer have to work on the streets and be exposed to the risks of being robbed and assualted or even murdered by having to get in to strangers cars and driven to remote locations.

Legalise Cannabis

By legalising cannabis, It will allow the government to regulate the substance by allowing only licensed growers to produce and distribute thus cutting out the associated criminal activities such as dealing and allowing the funds from cannabis going to criminal gangs. It will be easier to prosecute unlicensed cannabis growers and dealers if they are working outside the perameters of the law. There are also great opportunities for the government to gain tax revenue from what is now at the current time a black market economy.

My idea would be to adopt the Dutch model where cannabis can only be used in licensed premises or at home and the premises should be situated in specifically zoned areas in all major cities and towns. I am not advocating that cannabis cafes should spring up everywhere and this is where the government would regulate these locations alonside local councils.
