Medicines Act 1968

the section which deals with prescribed medicines is too onnerous – its an offence to give prescribed medicines to a child even if they are literally dying in front of you

the problem for me is asthma, running a cubs group requires all children to have an asthma plan and bring their own inhaler not allowed to share one, have to self administer even if in mid attack, have to phone their parents and ask permissioin to give ventolin even if they are mid attack this may delay treatment by a few minutes and lead to death

in reality i could keep a single subutemol inhaler / ventolin is harmless and universal anyone could take it you dont need a personal inhaler for half the class who have astham

asthma is on the rise and this is a real problem at all schools, sports clubs etc, lets have a single inhaler in a central place for all kids to use it will save lives

then i will be £100 a year better of

right now we need the money and businesses need the exposure so lets just do away with restrictions on all tv advertsing and save the taxpayer funding a tv station

First aid at work. The Health and safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981

the regs are probably ok but you could easily repeal the HSE Guidance note because its interpreted as meaning every office needs 4 first aiders, rediculous most are unable to deal with major emergencies anyway so better to call 999, for minor emergencies like a plaster or sprain just DIY, its not difficult to put a plaster on is it

i reckon where i work there are over 25 people doing first aid courses, drills, trianing, breifings etc all the time the collective loss of hours is incredible yet for so little benefit

the key problem is the phrase "adequate and appropriate" – risk averse employers interprete this as having armies of trained volunteers on tap with high levels of training and equipemtn, fair enough on an oil rig you might think but for me though in an office where the most dangerous thing is a paper clip fallign into the photocopier, this is OTT and costs us all time and money

Laws preventing home cooked food being sold

i dont know the rules but suspect its some Food Hygeine Regs but i read in the Mail that the WI cannot sell jam any more

this is silly, lets repeal it, very few people ever get sick from food any more its silly to be so OTT

remove strict rules governing use of mini buses – stems from EU Directive 2003/20/EC

compulsary seat belts, disability access etc etc, it all makes a 10 grand mini bus which any little voluntary sports team or community group could run into a major bus operation, im not suggesting public buses are exempt but id like to see anyone in the voluntary sector be able to run a mini bus without red tape as though it were a private car basically, so long as it has an MOT

chemical chastrastion for paedophiles

simple law: – anyone who sexually abuses a child gets their genetics removed, personally i'd go for a rusty knife but to get it through parliment suggest the prescription of chemicals which reduces testosterone and makes the parts wither and become unusable.  Lets put child safety ahead of whishy washy liberal human rights PC brigade

i believe the french do this and it works well there

Invert Speed Cameras

i like the US recycle bank idea where people get paid to recycle, taking this approach to motoring we could invert speed cameras so that every time you drive past one you gain points on your nectar card for going at the right speed

reward people instead of fining them, its much more fun

Relax the Animal Byproduct Regulations

Animal By-Products Regulation (ABPR) 2005 – deal with animal by-products, including the waste disposal industry, the animal feed industry, slaughterhouse operators, tanneries, farmers, food manufacturing premises, catering outlets, food retailers and zoos are affected by the ABPR. The legislation causes a major barrier to community groups who want to start their own community composting scheme, as such it means multinational giant foreign firms come in and monopolise the composting industry with high tech solutions which require the waste to be collected and hauled vast distances in deisel fueled vehicles at public expense, most of this waste could be dealt with on small scale local compost heaps on parks, gardens, allotments, farms etc, but there is so much environmental and safety regulations in the way despite composting being inherantly a simple and low risk activity which helps create nice soil improver for free and reduces organic waste thus helping save the planet.

speak to defra and the community composting association they will vouch for this!

Freedom from crime

i would legislate to give all citizens a human right to be free from crime, this would force governments to act to protect people and protect police spending from cuts, it would give us what we want public safety, more cctv and the victims rights out weighing the criminals, i would also like to see laws to force councils to install cctv cameras where atleast 1000 local residents sign petitions asking for it

its our money and we want more cctv NOW

Legislate against BUY ONE GET ONE FREE offers

In the UK we throw away 8 millions tonnes of food a year just from households.  This is £12 billion retail value equivelent, more than the entire Department of Transports Budget!!!

This also costs councils and therefore council tax payers another £1 billion per annum to landfill or treat all this food waste!

Its a complex area, but one reason is because people just buy to much when they are shopping in a hurry and never get round to eating it, this is exacerbated by BOGOF offers which make you get twice as much as you really needed.

In New Zealand a private members bill – the waste minimisation act – requires amongst other things that supermarkets doing BOGOF to offer you a single unit for 50% of the price.  This is a simple measure which combined with public education and awareness of cooking, shopping, storage and home composting could help save the UK billions of pounds and make us leaner, greener, meaner and better off

Ban food by Air Freight

food should only be imported into UK as an exception and then only by boat, bananas for example which ripen on the boat journey are OK but soft fruit from africa being flown in is criminal, we must ban this, i propose a new law simply requiring supermarkets to source food from the UK if it can be grown here, i accept something like coffee or bananas will only grow abroad but too much fruit and veg and meat should only ever come from the UK and if its not in season, tough wait
