Repeal new law or intention of giving councils greater power and control

The prime minister, it has been reported, now intends to give greater power to the councils, local government over us, the public. They already have too much already and have often tyrannically misused their power when it suits their interests against our, the public's interests. Also I thought that it was David Cameron's idea to give power back to the people from local if not central government, so why the about turn on a good idea and the promise of a start of true democracy and equality in the law. It is simply not fair to allow the perpetuation of tyranny in any and all of its forms. If a branch of government acts evilly or always from pure self interest and greed it must be iniquitous to allow its continued existence and also, I add, its tyranny!!

Stop sending satellites and other human clutter into the skies

Because they spoil the view of the sky at night and a clear vista of stars. Natural beauty, such as the sky should be respected and preserved around the planet. Also if the universe had a mind I am sure it would state that it doesnt want such debris from our species in space. Make a pre requisite of a legal obligation before the powers that be can send up cameras, CCTV's, etcetera, satellites for use of human beings. There was one which crashed back to Earth and could have seriously hurt somebody. Respect the universe and a clutter free space unless it is absolutely essential; not for trivia, such as talking trains, etcetera and NOT for motorists obtaining directions which they might just as easily obtain from a map or an A-Z!

Limit the profit making of uncontested fuel companies not based on consumption

Thames Water, for example, have no competition. Where I live they are the only supplier of water. They can charge more or less what they like. When I first moved into my flatafter the previous resident died they insisted I pay a huge amount of money to them before they set me up as their customer. At my previous address my water rate was included in my rent so it was a fair system with less leeway given to the company's profit making impulse. I went to my local CAB who told me to pay the sums and so I did. I then had to pay a fairly high sum regularly although I dont have a family and am very rarely in and not a big consumer. I had a meter installed to lower my fortnightly payments and noticed I only used one unit in the first month. Im not dirty but I shower at the pool almost every day and use a launderette to wash my clothes. To my horror the payments they demanded went higher than what I paid when I didnt have a water meter which is inside my flat. In several years they have only come to read the meter once. Then they doubled their charges and I found threatening letters with sums demanded on top of these payments were regular. Fuel companies should not exploit customers like this. Their charges should be restricted to usage. Water meters are obviously a CON  for them to make money out of and not a good idea for consumers.

Bring back darkness at night and limit the use of council orange-glow street lighting

There is too much night light now. The old fashioned lamps were good enough and did not shine through window curtains keeping people awake. They are hideous, too tall and better on motorways and busy 24 hour traffic roads. Bring back the old, graceful lamp lights. The present ones use too much electricity, kill trees, which need to emit carbon and take in oxygen. This doesnt help with the global warning problem. Also, what about the trees and the wild birds? The big beautiful tree near me which has a new lamp under its branches, is dying. There are a few big lamps around where I live. They shine in my windows forcing me to wear an eye mask at night and other people I know have said that they shine in their windows and, unless they use something like a war blackout curtain cant keep the glaring light out! Is this really necessary? How wonderful it was for me to stay by a truly remote Cornish beach earlier in the year and open my window at night upon TRUE darkness again!! Let night BE night as it was once. There is too much artificial light everywhere now, especially in the cities. 24 hour lighting is not Eco – friendly.

Turn off the talking trains, train stations and buses

For the past two years or so we have been forced to suffer a womans voice telling us from a satellite (I believe…?)  in space the same boring, intrusive messages about the stops or stations we are approaching, the final destination of the public vehicle which we are sitting down. Even while we wait for trains a man's voice tells us not to leave luggage on platforms, etc, etc. It's too much. When I recently went to Lymington, the lovely old fashioned train rendered a silent journey but the new train with un openable doors which requires the employment of an extra guard to open and close the doors has the ruddy female voice on it. There's too MUCH noise telling us to do this and not to do that. Its like the Nanny State via the invisible faceless voice. Do we really need this? Apart from the unnecessary noise it intrudes constantly upon our thoughts and right to peace and quiet .

Housing Crisis in the rental section

Having recently received a state pension and living in social housing I find that there are only two options open to me. Renting privately is out of the question because of all the outlay, the 6 weeks deposit the months rent in advance, the agency fees, requisite before even moving in. In social housing  now there are so many bad neighbours, with addictions, criminal histories or generally just noisy at night and inconsiderate that the only other option is to move into sheltered housing. Why is there no other option for those who cannot afford to buy, please? Sheltered housing is more expensive due to the costs of supporting manager, etc, but if a person is fit, healthy and very independent, likes privacy and doesnt want a red pull cord in possibly every room or someone knocking on their door every day to check whether they are all right and still alive the truth is that there is simply NO ALTERNATIVE but to rent social housing with often unscrupulous housing organisations who have no respect for the law in what they do or say and bad neighbours who can make life a hell on Earth. There is a housing crisis in England which needs to be addressed by this government! Now, it may not be a popular subject due to the fact it is about the needs of the poorer members of society but poor people are not automatically bad people.

State pensions and pension credit restrictions prohibit people going on holiday for more than one month.

If a person is in receipt of pension credit having no other income which tops up a state pension two things happen which restrict a person's choice and life. One is, with pension credit, which also might help towards the cost of a high rent and also with the council tax which is also very costly- the pensioner is not allowed to go away for more than a month and if he or she does has to inform the DWP who then take away the right to pension credit with the additional help towards housing benefit for rent and council tax and the person has to go through the very time consuming process of re applying for pension credit. This could immediately place him/her into a position of financial debt, which is very worrying. Please remove the strict regulations involved with receiving pension credit, which also forbids the person to do a job which pays (yes!) more than £5 a week. If the pensioner wanted to work to top up his income so he could travel and feel happier and less restricted his right to pension credit would be removed and he would be faced with a hefty council tax bill and the payment of a high rent. There would be no money left for her to take the holiday she wants and so it is like being in a prison of sorts, engulfed in by official restrictions!! It's a catch 22 and a no win situation which creates and keeps a pensioner locked in a misery of unfulfilled longing for things any normal person wants to do and in abject misery for the portion which is left of their lives.

Expand the Freedom of Information Act to include all social housing organisations

My housing organisation in the Richmond borough are building a truly MASSIVE new building for their offices while they already have office buildings in practically every town in the borough. Now I know they in receipt of public funding and accordingly I wrote to the housing manager to ask him under the Foe Act how much the building costs and where the money to build such an enormous construction in width, breadth and height came from. He curtly replied that he didn't have to give me such information. Please change the law so that all housing organisations in regular receipt of public funds (It must be costing millions!)discloses the financial details for there is another housing organisation which DOES disclose these figures in this borough. This is a waste of public money based on the pure greed of such landlords who, at the same time, are miserly and mean towards their tenants, refusing to spend a penny on many essential repairs, etcetera.

Repeal the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act, 2000

Please remove this law because it is used unwisely by the Authorities to the detriment and great loss of a right to personal privacy for the people of this country.

Change the housing laws and remove the care in the community myth

Please repeal the law which made it possible for dangerous mentally ill people to come out of places where they were cared for to live in the community so called and share housing with law abiding tenants in social housing. There is no care in the community and this term has been and still is used as an excuse for avoiding responsibility by the hopeless social services who want to impose their work onto untrained, unpaid volunteers, who are the unfortunate neighbours who have to share a roof with these often violently disturbed people. It is impossible and gravely upsetting to live with some of these residents who are often unable to look after themselves and might also need drink or drugs. Tenants are NOT social workers and should not have to bear the brunt of this official malaise.

Equality. Race.

Is true equality possible in this country? Before I moved into my present address I stood at the front entrance talking to two strangers from my housing  organisation. 'There is only one reason we will evict you without any warning for,' these landlords who had never met me before told me, ' This is the crime of racism!' I later learned the person in the flat beneath mine was an African. I was however surprised at their admonishment for my father way back in the early 1960's invited a man and his daughter from the West Indies to stay and he received some hostility for this in the street where we lived which was a very quiet, rural area. I have never thought of myself as being racist and have friends from different parts of the world. My new landlords, so intent on everybody being politically correct  proved to me one point over the years which is that those who force this particular philosophy onto other people prove persistently cruel with regard to the way they treat other people. This peculiar mentality is more akin to fascism than anything else. Social housing must be a form of social engineering in truth. Please make it possible for there to be true equality for people of all colours, yellow, white, brown, black, whatever. Do not allow the race relations Act to be manipulated and abused to oppress and crush people by tyrannical authorities in any department of the State and especially not in social housing!

Human Rights in Housing, the Dysfunctional Nanny State.

I think it is a great mistake to house people at random under one roof without consideration for the consequences as housing organisations do . People with grave mental problems or addictions can create big problems to their neighbours but housing organisations are less concerned about this than they should be and I'm not the first to say this! Why must somebody who is violent and very aggressive to his or her near neighbours, for example, be suffered and given more legal rights over so called normal people who might just want to live their lives in peace? It is very hard to evict them or to be protected from their behaviour, no matter what they do, for the law states that, because they have 'mental health problems' they have more rights than the other residents, which means rights to create absolute hell for other people and not be evicted. The Nanny State branch of the N.H.S…. or is it the social services, called the 'Community Mental Health Team' ( who really would be best dispensed with altogether!) act like a hysterical bunch of do badder do gooders by foisting their bizarre services often at the whim of a faceless bureaucrat in a housing association on the wrong people and leaving the really ill folk seriously alone. I think it was Harriet Harman ? who insisted everyone should come out of the hospitals, and what a great idea, but there is no provision made to ensure the affliction of their problems onto those around them does not occur. If they go to prison heaven help their neighbour or neighbours when they come out again! I don't want to sound cruel but I know instances where this has happened and the whole system in housing appears somewhat dysfunctional, to say the least. In Holland there is a separate housing policy which works well for everybody!!

Freedom to choose G.P. outside the postcode area

Can David Cameron please reintroduce his idea given about two years ago that he would abolish the limit of post code ruling for patients in their choice of G.P. if he ever came to government. Some of us have wonderful doctors but if we have moved just outside the post code where he practises his practice manager tells us we can no longer be on their patient list. Please, Nick Clegg, please adopt this idea your self and give us a right of choice here!! Let us choose our own doctor and not one forced on us by a wretched post code restriction?

Unlawful behaviour and abuse of human rightsby powerful bureaucracies

In Richmond a fairly low key member of staff in a social housing organisation relayed private e mails with a woman in a council housing department, one which contained slanderous and fictitious content about a tenant with no criminal history and who liked to lead a peaceful existence. This stated that in the opinion of the woman concerned the tenant was violent and had a serious mental illness. This was entirely untrue! As a result the social services were contacted,(All without any information being given about the procedure to the subject of it!), a local NHS Trust involved and a huge procedures was put secretly into place, involving a very large body of complete strangers to the subject involved. A hospital in the area was involved and also a clinic which made phone calls to try to get the name of the subject's doctor. (Refused twice!) A major NHS trust in the south west was contacted with ties with Tooting Bec (a well known mental hospital). Funny things started happening to the tenant who got wise to this clandestine procedure by powerful and unaccountable authorities and directly approached and challenged the social worker in the clinic who had made the calls. A letter from their doctor was forwarded to the landlords and the council stating that no information had been given from her patient's medical file at any time to the authorities concerned. This was ignored but by intelligent questioning of involved individuals with relation to clauses in the data protection acts and after an interview with the social worker at the clinic a memo was sent to the council from the clinic that to involve the particular individual in such a procedure was 'very inappropriate.' However this went on record on the housing file. Years later the tenant took the council housing department to court on another case and the slanderous information on the housing file was repeated by a judge who told the council.'It is wrong to mention…'s mental illness' as part of their defence. This tenant in question had no history of any mental illness, abhorred any form of violence and was suffering a new neighbour with an alcohol addiction who had attacked her, sent many hate letters and shouted hateful abuse from her balcony keeping everyone awake nearly every night for five and a half years before the landlords and the police finally evicted her. I have heard this procedure has been used by councils and housing associations against tenants before and since this case occurred. Is this right to treat a human being in this way? This cost a great deal of money with all the quangos involved but it was really a huge mistake. The housing file in question which revealed what had taken place in secret came to light in a solicitor's office. The council mysteriously 'lost' their own copy of this file.

The right to privacy and freedom

There is too much interference in twenty first century Britain. Too much being told what to think what to believe and what to do and not to do! How can we be sane and happy while we must endure police and community support officers and cameras scrutinizing our every move. So many regulations and restrictions govern our lives now that this small country has become a truly stifling domain, I am sorry to have to say! If I was younger and most definitely if I had children I would try with all possible ability and chance to emigrate to a freer, happier land but it isn't possible( although I dream of this almost every night.) A lot of their education seems to be about indoctrination and now its sex education from the age of five, I read in a newspaper. It makes me want to scream. Remove all Labour's laws and let's have our freedom back!! I've become so nostalgic for past times when life was happier, less governed and a person had an inalienable right to be, to express him or herself, to do practically whatever they wished as long as it didnt hurt anybody. Destroy all those crazy new post 9/11 rules and let's have a chance to breathe fresh air and feel free again.

Remove the anti social behaviour act from control by social housing landlords

This Act brought into being by Jack Straw has been so often utilized by powerful and completely unaccountable social housing organisations against tenants towards whom they might bear a grudge or dislike, possibly for being outspoken against unjust treatment from the landlords, that it has become a weapon in their hands and, without regard for any crime having been committed by the tenant whatsoever they will mercilessly threaten the tenant and try to control them in every possible way with this bizarre Act..

Social Housing organisations are a law unto themselves with no respect for law and increasingly behave like the Nanny State extremis in every thing they say and do, interfering in every private domain of a tenant's life!! Putting an Asbo on a peace loving tenant with no addictions and no criminal record doesn't concern such tyrannical minds as those that exist within these particular housing organisations. Take the power out of their hands and please eliminate the much abused anti social behaviour Act!

The sovereign right to individuality, to opinion and free thoughts

I recall the era when to be an individual was respected unquestionably. In fact it was honoured and fully respected. Now we have to watch everything we say or do for there is no freedom to be fully human. We have a right to the full range of human emotion in our hearts and on our lips, to our own unique ideas and also our opinions. There is no NEED for police to stroll our streets staring at everyone so we feel impelled to restrain every spontaneous urge, from a loud sigh to a harmless roar of anger at the sky, to the swinging as we walk of a clenched fist, or tears, or sheer joy of being alive on this wonderful earth. Now I feel as if I exist in a prison without bars for where are we allowed our full human potential allotted to each and every one of us at birth?? Does our country only want potential bureaucrats from every one of us? Where would be the Isadora Duncans, the Gaugains, a D.H. Lawrence, a Mahatma Gandhi or any libertarian in our present strait laced and wholly unnatural society?
