Increase domestic CCTV and register it with the police

Promote – with grants? – domestic CCTV, and force users to register their equipment with the police, and allow the police to use evidence from domestic CCTV.  Where available, give the police internet connection details so they can use the domestic CCTV registered near any incident they know is in progress via the internet.

Innocent bystanders are not threatened or restricted by CCTV, it frees them to be safe in a society where crime and anti social behaviour theaten us daily

Freedom of movement

Get rid of all the guard railing and the regs. and narrow safty audit contexts that result in significant restiction of the basic right that is the freedom of movement. Reintroduce common sense, follow best practise and safe millions if not billions of pounds between now and the next election. Imagine Places without guard railings!

END CANNABIS PROHIBITION OR JUSTIFY ITS USE

so on the 26 of Jan 2009 Gordon browns government re graded cannabis to a class B drug to send out a message , the message went out and the criminal gangs flocked , they had heard there was big money to be made in the uk again under the unregulated sales of cannabis . most of the former ACMD members warned against this but were ignored , Allen johnson said " a line was  drawn , advisers  advise and politicians have the final say ", the coalition government are following the same anti science based approach of biased prohibition at stretched costs  with no justification of its destructive self serving use

for example on the 26 of Jan 2009 brown s government  ignored the science and evidence at the publics cost , from Jan 2009 UK cannabis production doubled , this can be seen in this link :  http://www.acpo.police.uk/asp/policies/Data/064a%20UK%20National%20Problem%20Profile%20Cultivation%20of%20Cannabis.pdf

its an ACPO report that claims large scale cannabis production is a growing problem , its own scientific graph clearly shows  a spike in cannabis production from Jan 2009 to meet demand ,just what the former advisers warned against ,

this is more clear evidence that prohibition is counter productive at setting out to do what it claims it will , its implemented with the notion it will reduce all drug related harms but in fact it increases  all public harm and costs and like a paradox its  own created harms are used to justify and implement more of itself , more prohibition ,  good unbiased random controlled scientific evidence proves prohibition will never work in a democracy , we also have evidence of this from 1920 America

my idea is  to look for a scientific proven way to do everything prohibition claims it will do at reducing overall drug related crime and  harms  for a fraction of the cost and time while restoring public trust and respect without funding major crime nor making the poor  into criminals  through the temptation of easy money and the threat of rough living!

The Michael/Doherty Defence

That's George & Pete, obviously, the law that applies to them should apply to people who aren't as famous/rich/stoned as they are – ie: the interpretation offered to them that lets them stay out of jail for as long as they have be offered to the rest of the public

Circumvention of copy protection measures?

The BBC report on their "Click" program that a person living in Scotland who uses BBC I-Player through their satellite internet connection is breaking the law. The satellite provider is based in France, so that person needs to use a network tunnel to fool the I-Player web site into believing that they are in England. Although they have a right to watch BBC TV and therefore I-Player, they must circumvent the copy protection to do so.

My Idea is that until the smoking ban is amended buy all smoking products in Europe.

Nick Clegg & Co laughs at the idea that smokers should be treated as human beings,  we are expected to pay huge amounts of tax and shut up.

My idea is not to pay for any LEGAL smoking related product here,  in our own country where we are treated in such a vile manner.

Buying cheaply, leagaly  from the rest of Europe will withdraw all tax that finds its way to such as ASH.

Smokers have no choice,  no say and until we are given this can vote with their money and refuse to be taxed,  Legal, simple and very effective.

I would never have thought the EU could be useful,  still wouldn't vote for it.

Freedom From The Tyranny Of Wheelchair Services Departments!

Disabled people need freedom from the tyranny of wheelchair services.  Too many disabled people are provided with totally unsuitable wheelchairs, based on managerial policies and dictats.

It is time to give the power on wheelchair supply to the people who have to use the wheelchairs!

Close down all wheelchair services departments and create a local office with a few paper pushers who will order the chairs that are requested and dispatch the repair staff when they are needed.

To facilitate this create an on-line directory of all manufactured wheelchairs so that disabled people can contact the manufacturers direct, arrange a demo of the chair with the therapists who actually know them present, and select the most suitable chair for them.

Currently the therapists employed by wheelchair services departments do not know the real needs of their patients – they see them maybe once every five years and have no knowledge of their daily lives.  If the department manager states that patient X can have chair A (without ever having met the patient) then that is what is supplied and the therapists are unable to argue with their manager.

Unemployment reform

SEE PEOPLE AS AN ASSET NOT A LIABILITY

We will not be able to rationalize and reform this benefit until we stop thinking about people as being unemployed and start thinking about them being in part time employment of the government. If we make this change we now have millions of man hours which we can organize into small 'companies' employing say no more than 100 people.

The employees of these companies would have the same rights and responsibilities as other workers and be paid a wage based on the minimum wage for say 14 hrs per week over two days, they would have to turn up on time and sign in and out as other workers do. Let them start work at 9.30 and finish early to avoid peak time travel and absence would not be paid. The normal rules for sickness absence would apply.

It would be the managers job to find them work, anything from cutting grass to brushing the streets or use their brain and use them as a cheap employment source for local companies and councils, charge only £3.50 an hour.( this would reduce the cost to the government)  However there must be a clause that says a council can't hire an employee from the companies if they have made a similar person redundant or put them on short time within a set period.

Where a manager has no work for a group of employees for a period he should use them for community work. These companies could also be used to serve community service orders handed out by the courts.

The managers would also come from the ranks of the unemployed with some additional help from regional managers.

Each company within an area could have a number of trades i.e., painters, wages clerks or joiners and when a person has their first interview they should be given a list of companies they can apply to join which would reflect their skill and location.

Start the scheme as a small pilot on a voluntary basis and if good value for money roll the voluntary scheme out nationally and then make it mandatory.

Companies hiring the personnel could ask for a particular person and would be encouraged to eventually offer them a full time job.

It would also help small business to grow as the economy picks up

If one of these companies needs a multi skilled employee it should be able to have him trained by the nearest sister company that is based on training

There should be no limit to the type of employment these companies can offer but there must be safegaurds to protect local industry and prevent companies as seeing this a cheap alternative to hiring their own workers.

Allow the public to elect judges and magistrates

Every 4 years we hold judicial elections, where the public, get to choose our law-lords, judges & magistrates, by election.

This will be identical to a general election, but the candidates will have no polotical ties.

furthermore, let us have our judiciary wholly accountable to a council of people, persons chosen at random every 4 years, to whom our judges will have to explain their actions, reasoning and sentencing, and to give them powers to override any judicial decision, including those of courts abroad, for example the european court of human rights, which has consistently proven to be biased against the interests of the Great British people.

Atlas Shrugged (or Why We Need to Crack Down on Government Control Freakery)

Crime is a serious problem, right?

The fact is that the problem governments now face is that there is too LITTLE crime. THIS is what is threatening them. Not too much crime, as they tell you through their mouthpiece, the press.

Just imagine a paradisic country where everyone is living a happy moral life. There is no crime.

What need would there be for government? Perhaps to run the schools, transport, hospitals, clean the streets and a few other bits and bobs.

There would be no need, however, for a home secretary. You would not need police or prisons. And you would not need big government departments to oversee the police and the prisons.

Government would be significantly smaller. (And your taxes proportionately less.)

In short, if crime went down, large sections of government would have to go. Right?

Well, not quite. Both property and violent crime have been dropping steadily since they peaked in the early-to-mid 90s. These are now at the same level they were in 1980.

But we also have TWICE the number of people incarcerated than in 1980, despite property and violent crime having dropped back down to this level. (America has FOUR times its 1980 level.)

We also have 4000 new laws since Labour came into power.

And we have more prisons, far more police and massive government departments than we ever had in this area.

Government is thriving. (And your tax is high.)

Here is a rather chilling quote from the classic 1957 novel "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand:

<i>"There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Reardon, that's the game…"</i>

Smoking in Public Houses

Amend the ban by giving licensees the right to open a 'smoke room' on condition that signage is clearly indicated at entrances so that those of the public who may be offended by the smoke would obviously keep clear. As a retired licenced victualar with more than 25 years in the trade, I come across many of my old customers, many of whom are none smokers, who comment about the loss of atmosphere, especially because so many are in and out for a 'drag'.

PARENTAL RIGHTS LAWS TO BE MORE EQUAL AND NOT SKEWED TOWARDS THE MOTHER

Regularly, there are reports about un-married fathers having to go through the expensive and laborious Court system in order to gain parental rights despite some mothers clearly being unable to look after their children. The system favours the mother on all fronts.Surely a more simplified system which takes into account the amount of time a father spends with his children and financial support should sway the rules in a more equal and fair direction.

It should be as illegal for first cousins to marry as it is siblings.

People should not marry their first cousins, no more than they are  currently allowed to marry their own siblings.  Offspring of such unions have such a high incidence of life threatening and or crippling genetic abnormalities that not to legislate against this practise is morally wrong.

Stop announcements rather put forward ideas to the bodies concerned

My idea is straightforward and simple.  I am disabled, I am Fifty years old and I have been fortunate to have received a good education, continue through University, and work before and after a post graduate year.  Unfortunately, due to poor health, pain and frequent fatigue, I have been medically severanced, I pay tax and council tax.  I also am forced to top up the difference to my pension with Incapacity Benefit and I am in receipt of Disability Living Allowance.

The point I wish to make is, please look at every person as an individual.  I am depressed as well as living with a chronic condition, and a debilitating spinal injury which is treated by opiate medication.  I would love to have my health back and to work again, however, this is something I have been advised against doing.  I have tried going back to work by attempting to hold down a voluntary job in an area I thoroughly enjoyed.

With respect, I am finding Mr. Cleggs attitude about working being the best thing for people who are claiming benefit and that once in the system it is difficult to get out.  Please, I beg, do not tar everyone with the same brush.  There must be countless people like myself.  I am on Incapacity Benefit and DLA, I am worried beyond words, I am not sleeping and making myself ill.  I am being referred to the local mental health team because of all this.  Last year I was called in by Atos for a return to work medical, my GP intervened, It is not practical.  Donna from Atos informed me that I could have two years to get over it.  This shocked me beyond belief.  If I could I would cease claiming incapacity benefit, in fact any goverment benefit which over the years I have paid into through National Insurance Contributions and Tax.

I have been badly affected by Mr. George Osborne's DLA medical proposals, It was only whilst I was receiving Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy, that my mobility component was increased and this was for a fixed time, last year, It was as if a weight had been lifted off my shoulders when I was awarded DLA for an indefinite period.

Like many other people I am feeling extremely anxious, vulnerable and have no where to turn.  I am someone with a Degree and a vote.  I have worked for a major company, I have held a position of responsibility and taught.  I am considering returning to teach and all for reasons which i am being forced into.  I am extremely worried about my future.  My white blood cell count is lowering, due to stress, lack of sleep and bujeting on a spreadsheet isn't helping.  Without my DLA I lose my mobility, no car, i will be even worse than now about attending my hospital appoinments.

Please, this is my suggestion, that rather than suddenly announcing to the public about such cuts, you did it again last week to the middle classes about Winter Payments.  I am I have to say a bit ignorant there as I am not  a person who claims them, I am  not on Income Support but Incapacity Benefit, I pay my own prescriptions and my life is sorting out a dosette box, starving myself regularly for ultra shound x rays.  You see, i have two three major conditions, two chroninc and potentially fatal, the other one is degenerative, it will get worse.  At the moment I see very little point in existing any more, I am close to tears, I believe that I am not the only one, I have read similar stories.  If someone, irrespective of having worked before or not is on Incapacity and DLA then there has to be a reason.  It took much investigation, medicals, specialists and doctors being consulted before I was awarded the higher rate mobility and middle rate care;  I am fotunately able to now afford the help of a lady who has a key and if I was in so much pain would stay in my spare room..  I am indepedant and like to do what I can, however pain kicks in all too quickly and I am relying on my help.  I am fortunate to have my car, I do not drive it when I am having a painful episode as I take break through medication on top of that which is prescribed, I also take medication for my other two conditions.

I apologise if this is appearing to be about myself.  What it is, is an individual account.  I am one of many, many people all with stories to tell about my fears, concerns, how I would adddress a problem like you the Goverment are faced with.  I was no fan of the last Pm, however there is a man who pushed his health into the ground.  I just feel that WE ( THE PEOPLE AFFECTED BY YOUR NEW POLICIES) do not stand a chance to put forward to you how we feel, I know I am not alone in this.  I do not have much strength left in me here, but something has to be done and I am appealing to you to go about all of this in a different way.  Please go about this differently, consult disability organisations, it is easier that you think to find the scroungers on the system, most of them are sitting at home claiming Income support or ESA and Drinking to excess.
