Change the law so parents have to commit an act of abuse before social workers can remove a child from their care.

It has been reported that social workers can remove children from parents on suspicion that abuse might occur. One such incident involved a judgement by social services that a mother had an IQ to low to care for a baby. Therefore her baby was removed before she had a chance to show she could care for the child.

Why is this idea important?

Social services need to be able to proove actual abuse before they should be able to remove a parents rights.

Parents have a natural right to parent to the best of their ability. And it should be remembered that standards of parenting are not the same for all families which needs to be taken into account. Unless a child is proven to be in danger they should not be removed from their parents by the state.
