Get rid of regulations governing school dinners
There are regulations governing to the nth degree what schools should provide in terms of school dinners. These should go and be replaced by a general duty on schools to provide good quality and nutritious food.
Why does this idea matter?
I looked up these regulations a bit ago and despite having been involved in drafting pretty complicated legislation myself found them particularly unfathomable. They are rubbish and I bet push schools down the route of using large companies and county council suppliers for their school dinners. I also doubt anyone checks up on compliance in detail. So should we not just regulate for what we want – which is good quality and nutritious food for our children rather than trying to micro manage dinner ladies and gentlemen.
