The idea
Get rid of the smoking ban.
Why is it important?
The smoking ban has ripped the heart out of social life. You can't go out for a beer in a pub anymore without feeling like a leper. Friends getting together for a meal find themselves split between courses – half the people around the table leave to go outside for a cigarette and the rest are left inside.
Of course, common sense must prevail but I feel we don't need government telling us what we can and cannot do. Let the publican/restaurateur decide its own smoking policy.
I choose to drink and eat at home these days – I can't remember the last time I went to a pub or restaurant. Within reason, I refuse to be told what I can and cannot do.
