Replace the standard driving test with the Advanced Driving test or the RoSPA driving test and require a re-test every 5 years.  More than 3,600 people are killed on the roads every year, passing an advance driving test would mean only skilled drivers would be allowed on the road without supervision by another advanced driver.  This would reduce accidents, clear the roads of incompetent drivers and pressure public transport to improve its service as many current drivers would be unable to pass an advance test.  Obviously this policy would need to be phased in over a few years to allow people to prepare for and take the new tests.

Why is this idea important?

To improve road safety and save lives.
