It is proposed to change the constituecy boundaries and reduce the number of MPs. Good Idea.

The Isle of Wight is a single constituency at present. It should remain so. It has the largest number of electors for a single MP. The re-adjustment will tend to increase the number of electors per MP which will offset part of this imbalance.

The Isle of Wight has a well defined boundary and a local population that is very island-centred.

It makes sense to keep it that way.

Why is this idea important?

There is no practical way to split the Island to get better representation.

It is ridiculous to share an MP with part of the mainland.

Island issues need to be handled by an interested party – and only one of those.
