Everything published by U.S. Government staff or agencies is in the public domain. This makes it really easy to research what's happening in the USA, illustrate US-related topics, and generally spread American information over the Internet.

The British Government should take the same approach whereever possible. This would help reduce costs for businesses and charities, as well as being of immense value to online volunteer projects like Wikipedia.

Why is this idea important?

Because the Government generates so much useful content, there's a big social benefit to making that content as widely available as possible.
