I don't see why the NHS/the general public should continue to shoulder the cost of people who need masses of nhs care due to smoking/drinking/drugs/general bad lifestyle.

Why is this idea important?

These people cost the HNS huge amounts of money on surgery, GP practice time, admissions and beds for problems which are preventable and pointless. Most people know the risks associated with common lifestyle choices, if they choose to smoke and give themselves lung cancer I fail to see why I should pay to fix them.

We should have a system which allows for nhs treatment but if the illness/disease/injury is proven to be self inflicted then they should have to pay for it, not everyone else – whether thats done through insurance or direct payment.
