It would be inappropriate to make all schools the same. Clearly we are all different in terms of acedemic and other abilities. Putting less acedemically able children in schools where they are surrounded by those more able than them, or vice versa, would be unnerving in either case and would not encourage or promote full engagement by the children. In a system that is streamlined to some extent, it is much easier to taylor teacing and resources to meet individual needs and so optimise the benefits for students. The key would be to get the streamlining right and provide the necessary funding, which would not be the same for allthe schools.
Do not make all schools the same but have schools that cater for a range of abilities and interests, but with equal or comparativiely similar funding.
