Motor insurance should cost no more than 20% of the value of the vehicle. The vast majority of policy sales would not be affected by this cap but those buying good, cheap second hand cars like would not face the embarrissing and financially crippling insurance charges we are forced to pay. I live in rural area and as a job seeker need a car in order to be available for work. I have had to borrow money from my family to buy a car and have used my credit card for the insurance. My insurance premium was almost the same as the value of the car despite the fact I have a clean driving licence and over ten years driving experience.

Why is this idea important?

Its is important because without cheaper motor insurance running a car becomes unviable for a minority of people : those job seekers in rural areas who need their own transport in order to be competitive in the job market.
