It should no longer be possible for a private company, which may be owned and operated by foreign nationals, to restrict the inalienable right of British people to view National Sporting and Cultural Events and Free to Air Television.

Why is this idea important?

Certain events carry National significance.  These include football and rugby internationals for the four home nations, cricket test matches and World Cup games, the proms, the state opening of Parliament, General Election debates and results.

This list is not complete and there are others that can be added.

These are events that bind the nation together.  It is only right that the right to view these events on free to air televison be clarified.

These events should not be subject to the commercial whims of Rupert Murdoch; let's put them back on normal TV.
