This phrase arose as a grievance in America against the British in the 1700. Why is it my wife who is Danish and resident in the UK since 1977 is not entitled to vote in a General Election here although she has been working and paying taxes for most the time she has lived here? This country is happy to take her taxes but not give her the right to vote on who governs her and spend her taxes.

Why is this idea important?

Because there should be no taxation without representation.
