My idea is to investigate why a different CRB clearance is required for each position applied for when working with children or vulnerable adults, regardless of whether the position is voluntary or paid. In particular, why should a person who is already cleared to undertake an activity require another clearance should they wish to take on another activity – the result is usually the same.

Why is this idea important?

The introduction of the Independent Safeguarding Authority has just been postponed, possiblity to be looked at again with a better, less wasteful way of achieving the same result. Please look into cutting the unneccessary bureaucracy and paperwork currently involved that puts people off from volunteering or working in this important sector. This is administered by another Quango, maybe this could be done cheaper in-house i.e. by the public sector?
