Parking Laws.

In the HIghway code it states you should not part within 10 metres of a junction.  Unfortunately most areas have some one who parks right opposite a junction, not just on major roads, but on small domestic housing estates.

I live in a cul-de-sac and the house directly opposite our junction parks in front of it ever day making entry and access very difficult.  The police will do nothing because its only an advisory in the Highway code, the County council say the same.

I would change the Highway code.  There are too many regulations within it which are "advisory" and not law.  It should be made law to prevent people parking in front of a junction.  In our case if a fire engine or ambulance needed to get into the Close then we can forget it because this guy won't move his car.  Its advisory not to park on the yellow zig zag lines in front of a school, its advisory not to park completely on the pavement.

The Highway code should be the Law of the Road and all items included in it become Law and enforceable.  Not just a wishy washy document which is half law and half if your a good citizen you will follow it.

Why is this idea important?

I find coming home in an evening a nightmare, because of one guy who parks directly opposite the close where I live.  No one will do anything about it.  The part of the Highway code that covers it is an advisory.  This must happen all  over the Country and it should stop.

Please vote for the Highway Code to become fully law not half and half
