Religious Studies 'RS' is a compulsory subject in secondary schools up to year 9. It is then replaced by Personal Spiritual Education (PSE) for years 10 and 11. School should not be obliged to hold these lessons.

Why is this idea important?

Religious Studies 'RS' has a privileged position in the National Curriculum out of all proportion to its worth.

It takes up valuable teaching time that could and should be spent on more important subjects. Also making RS specialist teachers redundant would enable significant savings without damaging educational standards.
