Remove restrictions on medicines
Review the list of types of medicine which are currently only available with a prescription.
Some commonly used mild antibiotics such as Amoxicillin and Terramycin could reasonably be bought directly from a pharmacy without prescription.
Other long term (lifetime) medications such as for diabetes could be automatically prescribed on request in prescriptions for a years supply rather than for patients needing to phone regularly for repeat prescriptions simply because doing it that way makes more money for the doctor, the pharmacy and the NHS through more prescription charges.
Why does this idea matter?
- Save patients time, money and inconvenience.
- Save surgery time.
