The right to request flexible working, part of the Work and Families Act 2006, is a pointless piece of red tape.  It gives the employer the statutary right to ask the employer a question, and nothing more.  This burden of red tape should be removed.

Why is this idea important?

Any employer who is open to the idea of giving employees flexible working, will do so.  Any employer that is not, will not.  This legislation doesn't change that, it just creates a pile of documentation and process that needs to be followed, to come to the same result as would have hapened with out it.
