The government should draw up a new set of laws, to replace all existing ones. The new laws should, in total, take up no more than 250 pages of readable type.

Why is this idea important?

It should be possible for a person to know all the laws that exist in their own country. At the moment, this is impossible because there are too many. 250 pages of laws would surely be enough!

I realise that my proposal might not implemented by the coalition government. Nevertheless, I think trying to condense the laws down in this way might be useful and thought provoking, even as a purely academic exercise.
