The removal of the right of the prosecution to use previous convictions as part of a trial as this can lead to an unfair trial.

Why is this idea important?

This is important to preserve the right to a fair trial.  If a prosecution case is weak and they haven't proved their case beyond reasonable doubt any jury member presented with convictions of a similar nature may well decide that this is enough to prove beyond all reasonable doubt.

This would take away the premis that we are all innocent until proven guilty and tgakes away the burden of proof being a prosecution requirement.  Trials of late all seem to show that the defence are now having to prove the innocence which is wrong.
