Do away with the Local Government act 1972 which created local areas which meant little to local people and destroyed the autonomy of towns which had a vibrant local culture and tradition and left them with the feeling that they were getting a bad deal with the new authority which looked to the welfare of the so called principal town to the detriment of the lesser towns.

Why is this idea important?

It is no wonder that local elections get little support as they seem irrelevant to local people. I have seen local democracy in France and it is infinitely better than England
