Cut back the powers (and costs!) of the Crown Estates.

Why is this idea important?

In our rural area the sole objective of the Crown Estates over recent years seems to have been to purchase as much semi and actual greenbelt land then try to convince rural market towns and villages that they need thousands of unwanted and totally unwarranted houses called Commuter Estates on their doorstep.

Each and every proposal (under whatever guise) and its attendant rebuff costs hundreds of thousands of pounds, involving parish, borough and county councils in presentations, surveys, searches, appeals, more meetings etc etc.

It's all totally pointless as it is now accepted that Commuter estates sited miles from the nearest jobs do no more than increase traffic and attract people already housed but living in cities.  It's a complete waste of time and money – unless of course you are a builder or a crown Estates employee.

Crown Estates? Pointless.
