RIPA may be a good idea, but its use is rubbish.

Why is this idea important?

I had info as a Police Sgt that a flat was being used for heroin dealing. 2nd source of info so I swore a search warrant.

No problem.

The flat was not lived in and so I needed to watch it until activity was ongoing. No problem, another resident opposite offered me the use of her kitchen. Tht meant 12 pages of forms for a Superintendent's authority for covert surveillance. That was refuse in case we saw something else going on. End result, warrant not executed whilst Poole Borough Council authorised RIPA surveillance to see if a couple were living in the school catchment area where they were trying to get their kids into.
