Repeal the law which makes membership of the Institute For Learning compulsory.

Why is this idea important?

Most teachers/lecturers involved deem the Institute to be singularly useless, of no use to them, expensive, waste of time and a waste of public funds since the employer (college) currently pays the compulsory membership fee. The college gets its funds from the public purse and pays because the staff certainly would not. Let enthusiastic teachers join voluntarily and the smaller IFL gravy train can then move to Bradford instead of Islington.
