On Merseyside the only way to cross the Mersey in a car is through one of the two tunnels which charge a toll or to drive a 30 mile detour to the nearest bridge. Plans are affot for a second bridge adjacent to the one already there which will be a toll bridge. It is reported that when (if?) the new toll bridge opens then a toll will then be charged on the original bridge.
Road tolls are nothing but a further tax on motorists who already pay for the Roads via the Road fund Licence. Tolls limit business competition, divide communities and penalise commuters.
Scotland got rid of theirs, its time they went in England.
