Allow Pets to Travel Internationally

Where did this crazy myth start up, that the Continent is riddled with rabies?

Fill in the missing letters: T*b*oids.

There might have been some rabies issue in the 80s, but within a few years of spraying animal habitats with antidote food-pellets, the number of infected aniimals had dimininshed to practically zero. This was achieved within a few years by the 1990s.

Yet it was NEVER reported on.

Well, it’s now 20 years on from 1990, and we’re still the nanny state we were then. (Even worse if you count everything else.)

A number of other rabies-free countries (like Finland and Cyprus) have already signed up for the Schengen freedom-of-movement agreement. And I’d hate to count the number of times I’ve been scratched and bitten by playful cats on the Continent.

Time we reviewed and reformed this uniquely British crazy law.

Reform Air Passenger Duty

Remove air passenger duty from international flights to the EU and other countries and retain them for cheaper domestic flights.

Replace air passenger duty with an Airplane Tax within Britain. If the plane if full no tax is paid. If it is 90% full then a 10% tax is paid by the airline. There should a reverse rolling scale.

For 80% full, 20% tax is paid.

For 20% full, 80% tax is paid.

For an empty plane bar  the crew – 100% tax is paid.

Revoke laws requiring student airline pilots to pay tax on training expenses

Revoke and laws that require student pilots, already sometimes in debt of upwards of £100,000 to pay tax on their pilot training courses at recognised schools.

The tax was introduced some years ago after people abused the professional-training loophole allowing people to gain a pilots licence for please, but since regulated and approved schools now offer courses which bypass this type of licence, reintroduce the exemption for already over-stretched pilots and their families.

Freedom of movement

We should be allowed to go across borders without being subjected to immigration control within the EU. Many countries in Europe have signed up to this and can move around freely. I believe we should have the same rights, as we already pay for membership, so we should get this benefit. It is especially needed for those people who spend their time traveling back and forth.

Tourist tax on flights

Remove this "Gordon Brown wanted a piece of the pie" tax on the one area of the transport network that was actually successful and performing for customers, which is now damaging the industry as per a number of airlines reducing flights and reducing visitor numbers.

This unfairly targets airlines operating out of the UK whereas many European competitors don't have this tax and have a commercial advantage.

This 'green tax' went directly to the treasury for Gordon Brown to waste on national debt. At least ring fence it to invest in a greener UK airline industry so that we can get ahead from our worldwide competitors.
