The importance of the repeal of the Hunting Act 2004

My idea is that the Hunting Act 2004 must be repealed at the earliest opportunity.  There are many reasons to say this, but I feel particularly strongly about the following:-

  1. It is bad law and as such should not be allowed to continue in a free society
  2. There is no evidence that hunting with dogs is cruel
  3. At the end of the process the previous administration admitted that it had nothing to do with animal welfare but everything to do with class
  4. Hundreds of hours of parliamentary debate were taken over this subject but only tens of hours about the war in Iraq which made it a wicked, scandalous waste of time and money
  5. Minorities must be protected by law not attacked.
  6. The people who follow hunts should not be subjected to the unwanted attentions of so called hunt monitors.
  7. The police should not have their time wasted trying to uphold a law that is neither easy to interpret nor simple to enforce.

REPEAL THE HUNTING BAN

THE HUNT BAN SHOULD BE REPEALED ASAP. IT HAS INCREASED ANIMAL CRUELTY I.E. MORE SNARES USED TO CATCH FOXES AND MANY MORE BEING SHOT INDISCIMINATELY. WITH HUNTING WITH HOUNDS THERE IS AT LEAST A CHANCE FOR A FIT AND HEALTHY FOX TO GET AWAY

Hunting Act

The Hunting Act 2004 should be repealed ASAP. The act has not 'saved' any animal. It just makes good law abiding people criminals.

How people in Cities can decide what is best for the countryside I do not know. Hunting is part of the community. Packs run shows, point to points, fund raisers for charities and bring visitors in which supports the local B&B's and pubs.

Get it overturned and then let the people in the countryside decide what is best for it.

Requirement for Retailers of TV Equipment to collect personal data, under the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1967 (as amended)

Today I bought a Freeview box as a gift for my sister in law. When paying for the item I was informed that I was required by law to provide the name and address of the property where the item was to be used. I was unhappy about this, as 1) It is not my property and 2) I would not necessarily be happy that a retailer's information was handled sufficently securely and subject to the safeguards under the Data Protection Act. I therefore protested and was informed that they would not be able to sell me the item, on pain of a personal fine to the person who sold me the equipment.

This seems to stem from the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1967 (as amended). It seems to me a wholly unneccessary law, given that we already have a TV Licensing Authority, whose job it is to administrate the database – not that of electrical retailers!

repeal of opt out from EC fertiliser labelling law

In the early years of this century the country opted out of the EC revised regulations in respect of the labelling of Organic Based Compound Fertilisers.

This opting out allows British manufacturers to commit a scam, a fraud on the British public. The law as it is stated in the existing English Parliamentary statute allows sand and powerful chemicals to be sold as OBCFs usually under the banner Fish Blood and Bone Organic Based Plant food. The EC labelling regulation was brought in a few years ago to stop this disgraceful fraud.

However The Government of the time allowed an opt out to be inserted. I repeat it is a disgrace, the only persons to gain are dishonest manufacturers. These moral degenerates  have further combined in a cartel and removed  from the marketplace natural ferilisers such as fishmeal and hoof & horn. Now anyone who wishes to attempt to apply natural fertilisers to his or her garden is forced to buy this falsely labelled product.

Dangerous chemicals are used in this product and over time will reduce good tilth to dust.

THE REPEAL OF THIS OPT CLAUSE WILL SHOW THE GOVERNMENT CARES.

Digital radio

I have spent thousands of pounds on FM radio equipment which will be made useless by the Bill sneaked in at the end of the last Parliament.

Repeal the legislation at the first opportunity.

Remove road tax

My thoughts are to remove the road tax law/scheme and replace this with additional tax at the petrol station.

Why?

Those who use the roads more or have vehicles that consume more fuel pay a greater percentage for its up-keep.

This is a fairer system.

Repeal the Hunting Act

The Hunting Act 2004 should be repealed. The welfare of the fox population and the vitality of the countryside depends on it. It is the most humane form of fox control which is both selective and beneficial to the fox population. The law, morover, is badly written and non sensicle.

Strengthen The Hunting Ban.

I want to see this law strengthed !  There is NO  place in modern day society for  barbaric medieval pastimes such as this to continue, (or be brought back as it is rumoured to be!)  Our country is a disgrace the way it is treating our animals and I must say I am ashamed to tell my children what goes on. I want us to lead the way in looking after our wildlife and be seen to nurture, care, respect and live in harmony with them. How can we preach to hungry Africans about looking after their beautiful wildlife when we can't even look after our own!  The recent  media coverage on the so called fox attack almost resembled a witch hunt. Shame on our disgraceful media for demonising a beautiful creature.

Repeal of the Hunting Act 2004

The Hunting Act 2004 has no practical purpose. The Chairman of the Government Inquiry into Hunting with Dogs, Lord Burns, told Parliament that there was no evidence that hunting was cruel and the last Government did not even try to measure the impact of the Hunting Act. Wild mammals are still being managed to exactly the same extent as they were before the Hunting Act with no benefit to animal welfare and very possibly an increase of suffering especially where alternative methods are less effective in dealing with sick and injured mammals.

The Better Government Initiative described the unting Act as a 'notorious example of bad Government' and a Crown Court Judge has said that it is "far from simple to inerpret or to apply". Thousands of hours of police time are being wasted trying to enforce an unworkable law whilst hundreds of ordinary people face potential criminal charges every time they attempt to carry out legal hunting activity. The Hunting Act should be repealed and hunting controlled by independent regulation.
