Restore Capital Punishment

Whether we have Capital Punishment restored should be put out to referendum. The murder rate would drop by two thirds overnight if these thugs thought that they would hang for murdering someone. They instead spend a few years in jail living in comparative luxury, and we, and the victims' families are keeping them, and our jails are spilling over because they are so comfortable. What happened to punishment for criminals? This country is a joke

Referendum on Capital and Corporal Punishment.

I have just watched your message at the front of the page, and for you to say that you will definitely not re-introduce the Death Penalty and Corporal Punishment, really is going against what this website is for really.

You can't just ask people for their views and then when they do produce their views just shove it to one side because you don't like it.

You are a representative of the nation, and these two penalties were taken away without the proper consultation of the general public.

With your own admissions, the prisons are full to bursting, and we are not in a postion to keep building new ones.

The most dangerous view that is being put forward by Kenneth Clarke is to release some prisoners for community service.

The problem with that is the person is not being punished. The law is a laughing stock, because criminals know that they will only get a slapped wrist and don't do it again routine. The next minute, there is another victim of crime by the same prisioner you let out early.

How many people should be brutally attacked, or even murdered, before the government sits up and takes notice that this shouldn't be happening in our society.

People should be able to walk down the street without fearing attack. The blight that the illegal drugs has on the effect on not just the users and families, but of neighbourhoods, with people afraid to the shops, or being afraid of waking up with a man stood over your bed with a machettee, because he is looking for someone that he is going to either maim or murder.

Prisons help to stop these criminals from terrorising our country, however with there not being enough room within prison, you are letting others free to cause mayham again.

With cutbacks looming with the Police and frontline services, people are being left vunerable, and they cannot take the law into their own hands.

Will the public be consulted about the laws you are repealing?

Inability to Deport Foreign Criminals and Terrorist Operatives

The British government is prevented at present by a host of statutes, precedents and European court rulings from deporting foreign nationals and immigrants who are convicted of serious crimes or found to be members of proscribed, often terrorist organisations back to their countries of origin where those countries are thought not to place the same emphasis on so-called "human rights" as we do. We need not necessarily be talking about North Korea; quite often these "unsafe" nations are members of the Commonwealth, and objections can even be raised when deporting someone to the United States on grounds that the Americans retain the death sentence.

The state's first duty being to protect the law-abiding in general and its own citizens in particular, these impediments to the deportation of foreign criminals and terrorist operatives should all be swept away and the individuals concerned compelled to lie in the beds they have made for themselves.  I thought we weren't supposed to pass judgements on the cultures of others anymore, anyway?

stronger sentences for drug dealers

Anyone who is convicted without the slightest doubt of their guilt should be subjected to corporal punishment, ie they should be hung.

They are a bane to society and responsible for 40% of crime being commited by drug dependent criminals and they are unlikely to be rehabilitated through whatever term in prison they are likely to have been given.Stop all this namby pambying about and rid our society of these low life people. If the supply chain is cut it should help to decrease the cimes committed.

Bring back capital punishment for paedophiles, rapists & murderers

All the time we read about sick minded people re offending when they are let out of prison.

You say about human rights – what about the rights that these sick individuals took away from their victims.

why should my taxes oay to keep these monsters in prison.

you wanna save billions get us out of the deficit – surely the electric chair or lethal injection would save money from costing us £45000+ per annum keeping these violators in prison.

in my mind it is wrong – the government needs to act on these vile people – look at the jamie bulger boy – re-offended.

perhaps if they werent given a new life and identity by this country it would not happen.

if it was my little girl that was a victim i would hunt the person down and then be put in prison myself

the whole system is wrong and i am tired of hearing about paedophiles reoffending

everyone is given a chance in life what chance to the victims have i tell you absolutely none

the way the government deals with these individuals needs to be looked at – they do not deserve to have life if they destroy someone elses by there disgusting actions, it is not just the victim who is affected.

I for one am sick of it all

explain to me why the hell a paedophile should have any human rights at all if they choose to take that path – that is their choice and if they are caught they should suffer the consequences. they should not be let out to re-offend and destroy somebody or perhaps more peoples lives.

bring back capital punishment for all murderers/rapists and paedophiles – perhaps then you will save a bit of money by not throwing it wawy on people who dont deserve it.

there is no rehabnilitation – if you have those inclinations you will always have them full stop

Bring back dealth penalty

I think the number of prisoners in our jails has gone beyone belief and it seems that when you let them out – within a few months they are back in.

Bring back hanging.  With all the modern scientific ways of proving from DNA that someone has committed the crime.  All paedo's, murders and people that take another persons life should have the dealth penalty given as the sentance.

With the overcrowded country, full of immigrants that we have no history of, coming over here and committing some horrendous crimes – they should simply be shot.

Ian Huntley should of been given the death penalty as it is costing thousands to keep him in jail.  And as for his so called girlfriend well she was given thousands of pounds and a new identity to carry on their lives without much guilt is disgusting.

Restore transportation for lifers (use South Georgia in the Falkland Islands)

Anyone given a life term would be transported to South Georgia, which would become a giant open prison. Prisoners could support themselves through ariculture, hunting and fishing.

MURDER

As we are now in the position of saving money wherever we can I would like to know the cost of keeping a Murderer in prison for Life?

If you deliberately take the life of a person then you automaticcaly forfeit your own!  LOGIC.

Rather than bringing back hanging the convicted person should be anaethetized and any suitable organs harvested and made available for those desperately needing them.

It would also help in the prison overcrowding problem.

The trouble is we are governed by wallies who can't make a hard decision.

Also a sentence  of Life should mean LIFE and not a set period of time.

Another judicial muddle!

Finally, those that use knives to kill should be named irrespective of age.   Penalties as above.

Offer the electorate a Referendum on Capital Punishment

The only way to reduce the high volume of serious crimes is to have in place realistic deterrents – either substantial custodial sentences (where life means life)  or preferably capital punishment for murder, deaths caused by terrorists etc. Since CP was abolished advances in forsensic science would minimise miscarriges of justice and at the same time prison places would be reduced thus saving the related costs of keeping prisoners during their sentence. When the referendum on the voting system takes place in May 2011 why not add issue this to the voting paper and give the electorate a free vote on this issue. The new Government are keen to consult so why not let the people decide?

Repeal the Murder (Abolition of the Death Penalty) Act 1965

To repeal the 1965 Act removing the right of the courts to impose the death sentence on what were previously termed capital murderers – capital murder being murder committed in the course of or furtherance of theft; murder by shooting or explosion; murder while resisting arrest or during an escape; murder of a police or prison officer or persons assisting them; or two or more murders committed on different occasions.  Aspects of EU law preventing member states from restoring or introducing capital punishment would of course also need to be addressed.

ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR AND BULLYING SHOULD BE MADE CRIMINAL OFFENCE

ANYONE WHO COMMITS ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR AND BULLYING SHOULD BE PROSECUTED AND FACE LONG PRISON SENTENCES. EVEN THE DEATH PENALTY WOULD BE RIGHT FOR ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR AND BULLYING. THE DEATH PENALTY AND EVEN TOUGH PRISON SENTENCES SHOULD APPLY WHEN ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR AND BULLYING RESULT IN VIOLENCE AND INJURY FOR THE VICTIMS, ESPACIALLY WHEN IT IS LIFE CHANGING LONG TERM PHYSICAL INJURIES

Bring Back Capital Punishment

I think that we should bring back Capital Punishment as we spend too much money on murderers, rapists and other criminals who have commited serious crimes. These criminals will cost the taxpayer millions, but instead you could just sort out the serious criminals once and for all and stop the taxpayer paying for these waste of spaces. I thought under the Labour government that criminals were treated better than normal people who pay their taxes.

bring back the death penalty

Apart from saving money housing/educating/feeding/rehabilitating etc these criminals it will bring closure to those who have lost loved ones.

The death penalty should apply to those who cause the death of another by violence whether it be premeditated or caused by drugs/on behalf of a third party or sexual (rape).

Our society has given a free ticket to all those who have no regard for our historical values of fairness and freedom so why should we protect and pamper them when they seek to destroy our society by their actions.
