School funding

There always seems to be a shortage of funding for schools for repairs, cleaning, painting, extensions, extra-curricular activities etc.

However every child has 2 parents. For each child at school both parents should be obliged to contribute 1 hour of free labour per week if required. This could usefully be carried out alongside their children to give a sense of involvement and 'ownership' of the school to reduce vandalism. Paying a fee to opt out should not be allowed to maintain participation regardless of wealth. (obvious exceptions for certain jobs, eg sailors, deployed servicemen)

It would also help parents understand that their children are their responsibility and not something to be dumped on the taxpayer.

Why is this idea important?

Attracting the best & brightest minds to UK

My idea is to to make UK the destination of choice for pursuing Higher education(Post graduate studies and Phd) especially in the fields of science and engineering to student around the world.Thereby having promoting high quality research which should eventually lead to innovation and perhaps birth of new generation of British companies.

There has been a lot of talk about capping immigration from Non-EU Nations. But if closely analyze most of the immigration coming from Non-EU nations are generally highly skilled personnels such as engineers and doctors especially from South Asia.At same time if you analyze the immigrants from EU nations they generally are low skilled labour.

In this era of increased globalization due to low cost of labour present in countries like China and India most of the low skilled jobs will move to these countries. The only way Britain can improve its economy is by innovating especially in the fields of engineering& science. This countries like Britain,Germany and US have the key.I am from actually India where research is usually never encouraged and funds are very difficult to get . Moreover we don't have the facilities to conduct world class research. Many engineering graduates in India actually tend to go for higher studies in US instead of UK because of funding available. The ones coming to UK are not so brilliant ones who couldn't get into a good US universities.

But if you want to change this and attract the best student to your universities you will need to do two things.First make it easy for Non-EU students to work in Britain who have done their masters or Phd in British Universities.Second Make it easy for international students to get studentship and funding in Britain.

My idea revolves around the first. The post study visa which is of 2 year duration currently enforce is not much of use because you cannot extend the visa or convert into Tier 1 visa by yourself. The companies are reluctant to support you for Tier 1 visa due to the procedures and cost. They expect you to convert you immigration status to one where they can hire you directly.

My idea is make the post study  visa of 3yrs duration and convertible to Tier 1.Provided the candidate can show that he has worked in an engineering/science related job in Britain for at least 2 years out of those 3yrs.And other conditions such as he completed his post graduate education/Phd in a British university. This will not hamper British undergraduate prospects in UK as the post study work visa will be eligible to post graduate students.I must add very few British students actually pursue post graduate studies in Engineering/Science fields.

Secondly make it easy for international students to get Fully funded studentships and funds for research. This will encourage them to do research and innovate which will eventually help fuel the British economy. If you take this idea seriously and implement it you will get the cream of determined international students to do high quality research and replace US  as destination of choice for post graduate studies in the field of engineering/Science.I personally love to come and do research in an UK university.

Restore Grammar schools

Grammar Schools should be restored to raise the education of the country. Look at the base system in Bolton in the 60's and 70's. There were 3 types of schools on a base – a secondary modern, a technical school and a grammar. It worked, encouraged social mobility and movement throughout the schools at any age. We scrapped what worked just because secondary moderns didn't work. They should have been improved not our flagship schools scrapped. We are all different and have different skills- so one school for all will not work.

repeal the law allowing schools to become trusts

Allowing schools to become led by part-time non-professionals can be disastrous.  If you doubt this see the 'Concerned Calday Parents' Group on Facebook

Radically revise university admission policy

I see little point in large numbers of students going straight from school to university, just to get any old degree, spending three years learning how to consume large amounts of drink and emerging somewhat unemployable. I therefore suggest the following-:

1)  All students should first experience a year' s paid or voluntary employment or VSO, if that still exists.

2)  Courses should be sponsored by an  employer, as relevant to that employment, after say one year of at least satisfactory service.

3)  More general courses should be completed in 1-2 years or perhaps less with only normal holidays. There is nothing sacrosanct about 3 years.

4)  Students should normally live at home, as in many other countries, and there should be fewer universities, each offering more choice. This also avoids the build up of student debt.

5)  A graduate tax is unnecessary and would need a bureaucracy. Tax should follow earnings.

Criminal Records wiped totally clean! for someone who is and becomes DEGREE qualified

Hi

I was meant ot have made my point 100% clear but totally forgto to raise this,

Criminal records and cautions for petty crimes lets say 10 years old need to be deleted totally off the Police computer, obviously we know Sunita will make it certain or she is offering her proposal to never disclose records for minor crimes lets say 5 to 10 years old.  But ERASING them off the PNC is also required.

Religion is a lifestyle choice

Whatever gets you through the day is fine by me, but it is after all a lifestyle choice. Any perceived conflict between religious beliefs and equality are non existant, simply because people cannot choose, their colour, age, disability, sex, or sexual orientation (normally)

The law does not compel you to believe in a superior being, it is your choice, therefore it cannot trump someone else who cannot change themselves to suit a 2000 year old Abrahamic teachings, written at a time when a wheel barrow was state of the art science.

Degrees we need.

I'm a student nurse who's about to go into my third year, I think that shortening degrees to two years only would be impossible for me as I work on placement 37.5 hours a week for half of each year and am in university lectures from 9am to 4pm mon-fri for the other half with just 8 weeks holiday (which normal degree students get for just their summer break) so I cannot see how you could possibly apply the two year idea to some degrees.

I get an NHS bursary of £3,800 which I have to pay back once qualified, I do not think it would be fair to tax nurses and other health care graduates. But I do think that Media studies, art, American studies etc should have to pay more than Drs/nurses/teachers/scientists and engineers for their courses.

Degree courses

This is up for review, and I am not sure that a student tax is the way forward, however, what should be top of the agenda, is making sure the students that study vocational courses, especially in science and engineering should be financially encouraged, and those that want to study media or archaeology etc can pay the full amount.

Repeal the Academies Act

OK, it hasn't even made it to the statute book yet but it is a total disaster for ALL our children, especially those with any sort of difficulty or special need. It's a recipe for widening, not narrowing all the social gaps in our society. I know this govt is trying to out-Thatcher Thatcher but surely they don't still believe in that hoary and long discredited notion of trickle down?!

Education provision for ALL children will be improved by making state education better. This means that the local authority can plan coherently for the places they need, in the places they need them, can ensure that support services are sensibly and rationally planned to meet the needs of all schools in the area, and better schools can support and help those that – for whatever reason – do less well. We want to return to the notion of neighbourhood schools, with the presumption that most children will go to their local school because it's as good as any other nearby. Giving the middle classes a free for all to do their own thing will not help those that need it in any way.

Temporary Event Notices and school events

Establish an exemption for regulated entertainment at schools.

A temporary event notice is currently required for all unlicensed premises for regulated entertainment, the supply of alcohol and late night refreshments with specific requirements being determined by local authority licensing officers.

Currently, a temporary event notice can be required to hold a school disco for pupils and the screening of a film.

School detention is is against human rights

An end to school detention, this is a form of inprisonment against a person's will, usually the result of alittle bit of horse play.

Surely the act of detention is unlawful imprisonment and kidnapping. normally with a ransom being issued for a person to do something in return for freedom.

Enhanced Disclosure per person rather than activity

(Speaking for the situation in Scotland – don't know about rest of UK)

Currently a separate disclosure is required for each activity – perhaps a central database could be checked against a disclosure number and name (with the permission of the person concerned).

How to reform the foreign aid to better help the third world develop, increase food security, reduce CO2, increase forest cover in the UK and build cheap and affordable houses for British people.

This is long, so bear with me:

We should convert 12% of farmland in the UK into 90% woodland and 10% housing. This would build roughly 3.8 million houses and add another 560,000 hectares of forest, increasing the amount of forest cover of the UK by 56%. This would also cut our carbon footprint by 8% (a big contribution towards our aim to cut 80% by 2050) and generally improving the environment.

Then use the Foreign Aid budget to build farms in the developing world by buying licenses of the governments there. We can then use the food grown in this otherwise unused but productive land to feed our population and increase food sustainability.

There is of course the matter of security for our farms. It is unlikely for there to be Zimbabwe style farm invasions as this policy shall increase affluence and decrease unemployment in these countries. In the very worst case scenario, we can deploy British troops to protect these farms, though this may also be unnecessary as we should try to get the foreign governments to control crime.

And just to clear one thing out the way, Africa is not all barren and unfertile. It has 28% of all the worlds arable land, more than North America and Europe combined and furthermore more than any other continent, even Asia or South America. The reason it is not very productive is that it is poorly run by corrupt governments. Prime examples are Sudan, Congo, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

The amount of shipping and flights from foreign countries to the UK delivering food may generate some emissions, though this is dwarfed by the mass of trees and other plants being grown in the UK and the foreign countries.

Repeal British Parliament sovereignty

Repeal British parliament sovereignty to restore civil liberties (and more).

Parliament has passed laws that limit parliamentary sovereignty. Parliament can repeal any of these limitations. Therefore, they continue to create and end any law, lacking Lawfulness.

It is quite clear, regardless what millions say, that no authority was granted to Parliament
to repeal and create new laws if they follow God as the queen and parliament attest to do.

5:17-20 Think not that I am come to destroy The Law, or the Prophets:
I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you,
Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no way pass
from The Law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break
one of these least Commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be
called the least in the Kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and
teach [them], the same shall be called great in the Kingdom of heaven.
For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed [the
righteousness] of the lawyers and politicians (who were also priests
because the church and the state were one at that time), ye shall in
no case enter into the Kingdom of heaven. – Matthew.

Based on this proof (and there is more), the people who choose to live by The Law of God, have every right to do so. Parliament is forbidding followers of Christ, by all their legislation.
Hence the contribution, challenging (again) the British Parliament to relinquish sovereignty.

On 13/June/1988, 40 years from the Fig Tree putting forth its new shoots in 1948, Christ served a High Court Writ upon the British Parliament, at court in the City of Sheffield, where his new body hadbeen born in 1948, as prophesied, demanding that he be acknowledged by
Parliament as the Rightful British-Israel King.

Revert back to internal mock exams at secondary school

basically I would like the secondary school exams to go back to having a mock exam that are internally marked.  The current process means that schools are paying in the region of £100,000 a year to have their kid put through exams. This figure used to be £20,000. What was ever wrong with the idea of putting the kids through an internal mock exam, see how their doing, tell them what they've got to do and if they fail then they have to pay for themselves to resit the exam.

It's an important life skill to learn that there isn't always a safety net nad so you have to make teh best of the oppertunities that life offers you.

Rebuilding the educational system ! AND DON’T JUST TAKE ME AS A JOKE. TAKE NOTICE

I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT GETTING INTOUCH WITH YOU IS A WASTE OF TIME AND THAT YOU WILL DISREGRARD THIS LETTER AND NOT TAKE ANY NOTICE OF WHAT I HAVE TO SAY……… I HOPE THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE TOLD ME THIS AND THERE ARE MANY,  ARE WRONG. BUT ONLY YOU CAN BE THE ONES TO CALL THEIR BLUFF AND READ THIS…….WHATS IT DOING TO BE . ONLY WHEN I SEE A REPLY  WILL I KNOW……IF YOU HAVE THE TIME FOR ME

I have not been so ashamed of my country of birth in the aspect on how the children ( THE FUTURE OF THIS COUNTRY) are being educated. Max Hastings (daily mail, tuesday 20th July 2010) He is so correct in everyway, this is my biggest worry not just for my children but for EVERY child in this counrty. I had a meeting with Mark Hazel one of your department heads in Cumbria, about keeping  my child back in year 5 as he is not at the educational standard he needs to be to go into secondary school. I WANT HIM REPEATED AND I GET YOUR POLICIES REFUSSING THIS. taking away my rights as a mother who wants whats best for my child. I don't believe I have a right to decide to take away your rights as a parent so why must you have the right to do  that to me as your policies dictate so.

If  Mark Hazel comes to a meeting as a department head in a pair of trainers, jogging pants , a vest top and to top it all earrings all the way up his ear …….. no wonder I have a bad attitude towards all in power to decide what is RIGHT and WRONG He should of been in a suit and tie..It shows me thereis  Something is so very wrong with his attitude towards the goverment departments, is this man not PROUD to work within your goverment . Just as the teachers they are so lazy and all they do is protect their our backs and the school they work in….. OFSTED reports.

Third world countries are educating their children better than you and to me you are egotistical in believing your are on top listing in world ratings, your eyes are open wide SHUT for you to think thingsdon't  need DRASTIC CHANGE………….

CHILDREN TODAY WALK AROUND THINKING THEY ARE NEVER FAILURES AND THAT THEY ARE NEVER WRONG…………

THIS EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM HAS TOUGHT THEM ONE THING AND ONE THING ONLY

ARRIGANCE

THE AMOUT OF CHILDREN IN TOUBLE,  THEFT , DRUGS , UNDER AGE SEXUAL ACTIONS AND OH I CAN KEEP GOING … BUT I THINK YOU GET MY DRIFT. its not just the parents to blame. they are at school as much as at home. if they have structure in the class room it will filter through into the outside world and the home.

I came back home proud to be back as I have always been proud to be British . But the way people conduct yourselves makes me ashamed. I wanted to come back and give this counrty my children, to be educated and to give back to you with  their services to this Country not South Africa and this is want I get . stabbed in the back and told I have NO SAY IN WHATS IN THE BEST INTREST OF MY OWN CHILD. THATS SICK I don't want my child sponging of the goverment funds because of his lack of education I would like him to be more useful and not a rubish picker either , that should not even be a job it should be made compolsary for spongers to do or the ones covicted for petty crimes ….. driving offenses damaging goveverment , council property as so forth.

Bring back Nativity plays in schools

I think its a tragedy that nativity plays have been banned in schools so not to offend the  foreigners who come here, of our heritage and christianity. They come to Britain to seek a better life, only to want to change things round to their own ways and beliefs.

This is just one of many issues that seem to offend and its about time that immigrants were falsed to intergrate into our society and respect our values whether they like it or not.

We would be expected to live by their beliefs etc if it was the other way round.

If Cannabis Could Cure Cancer, Would’nt You Want It To Be Legal?

Vote Yes and allow the research to be done, there is already evidence that cannabis causes the growth in tumours and cancers to stop.

Same punishment at school for homophobia and racism

Why is there no punishment at schools for using 'gay' in the wrong context?

Or using the word 'Faggot'. How and why is it possible for someone of 16 or any age to get away with using 'faggot' to describe someone whereas if anyone used the word 'ni**a' they would be fined or kicked out of class or worse?

I want to know why there is not a suitable punishment for homophobia compared the punishment of racism?

There is already a lot more homophobic bullying in schools and i want to know what this new government is going to do to try and change that.

Fewer Education Acts – more parliamentary scrutiny

Each new minister for education immediately introduces an education act – then 12 months later has another go – and 12 months later gets replaced and the cycle starts again. Michael Gove seems to continuing this trend.

Other public services are similar – how many pages of instructions did the Police say they had to wade through.

More worryingly is the tendency for Acts to give ministers power to change regulations at will without parliamentary scrutiny (Gove again) – this is the way of the last government (Blunkett was one such) – the Coalition should not be using this undemocratic process

Employment Referencing Law

Employment Referencing Law

Make a law about employment referencing.

For example, all the information an employer can give out for a reference is date started, date left and position held.
