EU Legislation

Put all EU laws that are not to do with a single trade zone up for referendum in detail. The referendum in the early 70's did not ask people to vote on social, political or military integration, only trade. There is therefore no mandate for anything else.

Why is this idea important?

By a eu Migrent say we are push overs

I am from the “Easter Europe” and to be precise from Slovakia; my country joined the EU in 2004. I came the same year to “your” country to improve my English. I am now a final year student at a University in the UK.
I do NOT!!! live on benefits!!! + Non of my friends from the “Eastern Europe”.

The reason why I am posting a comment is:

The whole benefit system in the UK is completely ridiculous!!!

Firstly, do you blame those people (Polish, etc), that they claime benefits? They are only a mirror image of the group of British citizens, who do the same! I am talking about a particularly group of British people (BUT this group is not small in numbers) who are not working, abusing the system by living on benefits of all kind. I do not want to start to talk about the problem of “teenager pregnancies”.

Secondly, when the United Kingdom opened the working market for the new EU countries in 2004, they should considered all possibilities, not now when they are loosing their ground under their feed.

To conclude, the system is wrong, because it can be abused. It is simple as that and speaking frankly, you do not need to be a genius to figure it out. As we can see it is happening on daily basis and this is utterly alogical!

Slovakia is not better than the UK and the British are not better that the others, the fact is that we all are humans and SOME OF US will simply use the chances to misuse and abuse the system if they have the opportunity to do it so. We show only give benefits to uk citizen or poeple in the uk.

Let’s join Norway, Switzerland and Russia outside the EU

Repeal the 1972 European Communities Act so we can leave the EU. It's always mentioned that Norway and Switzerland are both extremely prosperous European nations outside the European Union but no one ever mentions Russia as a successful non EU nation. The Russians and their Red Army did a fantastic job – as did Britain and America – in overcoming German led European Unionism in World War 2. We might once again need help from the Americans and Russians to break the stranglehold that the German dominated EU now has on our country unless we leave the EU now.

Leave the EU – that should stop most of the daft, expensive legislation

Leaving the EU should stop most of the daft, expensive legislation which this site was set up to do. Most of the ideas proposed on this site would be impossible to repeal because the are binding on our government. Euro diktat has precedence over UK law in many cases.

Most of our legislation is now directed from Brussels. The government you elect here in the UK can rarely do anything about laws, regulations and bureacracy from the EU. Most of these things have been created after lobbying by special interest groups or big business. They have the deep pockets to employ specialist PR agents who – at best – wine and dine the EU bureacrats.

Even where the legislations sounds to be positive, it is usually at enormous cost.

Every year, thousands of new rules and regulations are published producing a monumental nuisance for almost every organisation in the country.

Some we know are EU-inspired, but other laws are less well known as EU in origin. In fact most of our legislation comes from over the water.  But the majority of EU laws and regulations are expensive to implement and monitor, and ineffective in not producing the intended effect; some are harmful, and of course some actually useful.

The Opportunity for a Referendum on EU membership

Now that our Government has deceided to have a referendum on the voting system what a wonderfull opportunity to combine it with a referendum on the UK's continued membership of the EU. to save the expense of having 2 separate ones.

EU Referendum

The EU is an illegal body that has never been voted on by the British people. The even the  French ( The closest to friends that the Germans have) have been given a vote. The British people demand a free vote and if that vote is 'NO' then we shed the EU and all the ridiculous  legislation. We all know that the EU only serves as the next step for most politicians it serves them well with big salaries. The situation is proved by the liberal democrats insistence that we will still go into the Euro 'when the time is right', despite the imminent collapse of the currency.

So if this coalition really believes in giving the people power then its time for a referendum.
