Means test child benefit

Parents of children are currently entitled to claim both tax credits and child benefit. Tax credits are means tested and based on a number of factors including an allowance based on the number of children cared for. Child benefit is not currently means tested.

The tax credit child allowance should be increased by the value of child beneft and child benefit should be cancelled.

Why is this idea important?

Deposits on bottles and cans

Could we return to the old idea of deposits on bottles and perhaps also on cans? This would encourage people to return items, not just dump them and it could also help charities benefit too, if people collected items and returned them on the charioty's behalf.  It would give people an incentive to recycle.

Stop criminalising people who want to protect their homes and families

If a person breaks into a house the law should state that that person must knowingly run the risk of being hurt, maimed or even killed by a person defending themself, their family and their possessions.

The justification for this law should be that the homeowner is being put under extreme stress. In other words 'out of their mind with fear'.

No person under extreme stress must ever be sent to prison for any 'crime' in their own house.

Freedom to protect pupils from danger on school trips

As a teacher I was free to give up my spare time to take my 11 year old pupils away on residential trips to try canoeing, rock climbing and abseiling.  However, I was not free to protect them from danger.

A teacher must be free to exclude a violent pupil from a trip if they believe that his/her presence will prejudice the safety of the other children.  At present a head teacher can insist a pupil “stays on the list” for a residential school trip even though it is impossible to give that pupil the support his Statement demands.  My head teacher did just that.

A teacher must be free to share information with other professionals in order to ensure the safety of their pupils.  I told the instructors at the outdoor education centre I was taking my pupils to that this violent boy had a Statement which gave him full time support in school.  My local authority found me guilty of professional misconduct at a disciplinary hearing for doing this.  You see my head, Hackney Social Services and the child's foster carers wanted this fact kept secret so that the centre would take the child at night without his support thus enabling his foster parents to have a holiday without him.  Unfortunately it would also have enabled this pupil to carry out an Edlington type of assault.  The Department of Education has said that Kent County Council’s action was correct, “reasonable” in civil service parlance, even if I was right about the risk to my pupils.

Stop Wasting the Taxpayers Money

We are now being told that we will all have to share the burden of the banks greed and the governments incompetency in managing our economy.

Cutbacks to all government departments are being planned and it is the UK taxpayer that is going to suffer.  In two minutes i have managed to compile a list of areas that could be targeted which would save huge amounts of money and also real peoples jobs.

1)  Benefits Fraud

2)  Legal Aid (purely for people to top up their benefits with bogus claims)

3)  Compensation for trips and slips (look where your going).

4)  Disability allowance for people with nothing wrong with them (my next door neighbours).

5)  Europe full stop.

6)  Low life MP's living the high life.

7)  Job seekers for people with no intention of seeking a job.

8)  Stupid Government schemes  (too many to even consider).

9)  Extradite prisoners who cost us a fortune to keep in prision.

10)  Compensation for terrorists

11)  Human Rights for terrorists

12)  Compensation for prisoners (my uncomfortable bed gave me a bad back etc)

repeal cto’s review mha 2007 consider civil/human rights/freedoms

section 17 of the mental health act already exists – it cannot compel patients within the commuity to take medication against their will, however cto's can,  controlling civil freedom, choice, autonomy too often information is not forthcoming, transparent or easily understood.   – it could be argued cto' s are coersive and could present as an increased risk to patients and professionals if used routinely

Remove Speed Cameras

Remove Speed Cameras and replace with responsible policing.

The cameras do not catch those that have no license, are driving using a mobile and other offenses than speeding. They are also a source of accidents were you get nervous drivers brake and reduce speed well bellow the speed limit. forcing other traffic to casscade.

The removal of cameras has been proven to work in Swindon, other towns should think again.

Myths willfully peddled by politicians should be prosecuted

Two blatant government myths – both feminist in origin – commonly peddled around are:

  1. The Pay Gap
  2. Prostitutes are exploited women trafficked by unscrupulous men.

Let me take these one at a time.

1. The Pay Gap is a lie. Men certainly earn more than women ON AVERAGE, but this is because they choose harder jobs that pay more. But for the same work they earn the same. After all, why on planet earth would companies employ men if women were cheaper for doing the same work?

2. Women enter into prostitution for the MONEY. They enter it voluntarily. They can earn a 4-figure sum daily — that’s untaxed. At the last world cup held in Germany, it was “predicted” that 50,000 women would be “trafficked”. But after strenuous searches the actual number was – wait for it – THREE. Indeed, most trafficked people are actually MEN – who are economic migrants.

So to come back to my point, if government ministers and other politicians are deliberately feeding the public lies, they should be prosecuted. (If they make a false statement in good faith that it was true, then this would make them innocent.)

Right to Roam Vs Freedom to remain hidden

The idea that anyone, even people who have not been to a good public school, can wander around anywhere they please making a nuisance of themselves with their crisps, Iputers and Australian looking shorts, is just plain wrong.

We need to go back to a time when people kept themselves to themselves and did not interfere with a landowners most prized asset.
