Abolish the monarchy and titles of nobility

How can we profess to be a truly democratic and modern society when we subsidise a head of state selected on the basis of hereditary privilege?

We should be allowed to elect our head of state. Someone who actively engages with the electorate. Only an elected head of state can adequately protect our civil liberties. A hereditary ruler has no legitimacy whatsoever.

END APARTHEID MONARCHY HUMAN RIGHTS CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY

That it is my inalienable human right to stand for election to the office of head of state of the united kingdom, and thence england after independence by referendum, that monarchy is a form of apartheid and is therefore a crime against humanity liable to prosecution under the rome statute for the international criminal court. that my inalienable right to stand for election to the office of head of state is the foundation right of all human rights.  By way of information the state of the united kingdom is totalitarian and utterly racist being an apartheid state, because the electoral commission of the united kingdom has refused to register and therefore banned my political party called, MONARCHY IS RACIST END MONARCHY APARTHEID.

Declare a Republic

Republics define the roles and rights of their citizens, monarchies rely on notions of subservience and the one-way loyalty of subjects.

We should have the right to decide who should be our Head of State; it should not be dictated by accident of birth. The people of these lands are grown up enough to make that choice for themselves.

Repeal Royal Marriages Act & Amend Act of Succession

The Royal Marriages Act was seen as a stupid law when it was passed in the 18th century by MPs. Does the Queen actually keep track of the descendants of George III whose marriages she needs to approve? The law was seen as a joke by MPs at the time and is a bigger joke now.

Also in the 21st century isn't it time to remove the succession where a younger brother takes precedence over a sister. Since we have two male heirs with no older sisters isn't this a time to do it as well. It would have to change it to being from a certain monarch after Victoria as we would have the descendants of Kaiser Bill as our monarchs. As our Queen has 8 grandchildren it could be from her descendants or George V as we still have living HRHs descended from him.

Allow the monarch freedom of religious conscience

Nobody should have a religious adherence imposed upon them, nor should anybody lose their job for freely expressing their true feelings on questions of religion.

The monarch, therefore, must be permitted to follow any denomination of Christianity, or Islam, Judaism, Sikhism, or any other faith, or be non-religious as his or her conscience dictates.

Freedom to elect our head of state

The Queen will not be with us forever.  When she goes it will be time to do away with this ridiculous idea that the best way of choosing a head of state in our meritocracy is who your dad was.

Divorce Church of England from the State

In a multi-cultural society in which we endeavour to treat all people as citizens, and not subjects,it is important that all be treated equally and with respect under the law.  The current system discriminates against non CofE people because of the direct connection between Church and State with the Monarchy being Head of the Church as an integral part of its responsibilities.

The Head of State should be seen as representing the entire population, regardless of faith, and not just those people of CofE faith.

Secure the future of Monarchy but modernise and make them relevent

I think the monarchy is an important part of  Englands  history  and  they are also responsible for tourism boosts inthis country because they mean somthing to the wider world. They are part of our culture and have played pivitol roles in representing  The Uk all over the world . And I believe  that t they still mean something to people in this country. They represent a strong set of values and  hope to many  you always need people to look up to and I believe for many the royal family who do work hard represent strength, determination and hold up many british values.

I do think however that the monarchy are becoming out of touch with your average man I would like to see the monarchy modernised made to see what life is really like for the common man and would like to see them play a larger role in the day to day running of the country .

I believe the monarchy should once again be educated in matters of state  politics etc and be able to advise goverment in a more influential way. I feel they work hard attending functions the royal families schedule alone is crazy but I would like to see them play a larger and more responsible role . I would have them advise goverment on many issues be able to voice opinions in world matters and also local matters .  Basicallly I would like to see them have more power /responsibility that they had in the past  but obviously still with govermental control.

Modernise the law of treason

Anyone who owes allegiance to the Queen – that is, British citizens anywhere, foreigners resident in this country and holders of British passports (even if obtained fraudulently) – commits treason if he:

  • levies war against the Queen in the UK,
  • is adherent to the Queen's enemies in the UK or elsewhere by giving to them aid and comfort in the UK or elsewhere,
  • "compasses or imagines" the death of the King, Queen Regnant or Queen Consort, or Prince of Wales,
  • has sex (whether consensual or not) with the Queen Consort, the Princess of Wales or the Queen's "eldest daughter unmarried",
  • slays any judge in the exercise of his duties, (Treason Act 1351),
  • fights in the armed forces of a king de jure against the King de facto (Treason Act 1495),
  • attempts to prevent the next in line to the throne as appointed by law from succeeding (Act 1 Anne Stat 2 (c.21); Treason Act (Ireland) 1703),
  • slays any of the Lords of Session or Lords Commissioners of Justiciary sitting on the bench in the exercise of their duties in Scotland,
  • counterfeits the Great Seal of Scotland (Treason Act 1708),
  • compasses or imagines "to deprive or depose our Most Gracious Lady the Queen, from the style, honour, or royal name of the imperial crown of the United Kingdom" (use of force is not required), or use force to intimidate Parliament or to change the Government, or inciting any foreigner to make an armed invasion of the UK (Treason Felony Act 1848, which can be charged as treason).

I will submit a petition to Parliament on this subject, which proposes to abolish the concept of allegiance, restrict treason to making war on the UK, helping the UK's enemies in wartime, and killing or attempting to kill the Queen.  The language of the law will be modernised, written in English and the aim is to contain the whole law of treason in one statute.

Repeal of numerous laws

I would like to see the repeal of the law making it illegal to eat mince pies. Also the repeal of the right to shoot a scotsman with a bow and arrow from the walls of the city of York.  Finally and on a more serious note I would like to see primogeniture revoked along with the disqualification of Catholics from the succession. If other nations want to keep these laws that is fine but for the United Kingdom we should take the principled stand that all heirs are equal in the eyes of the law. Whether they be women, catholic or both.

abolition of the monarchy

We should have a referendum on whether to abolish the monarchy. The monarchy is undemocratic, out-dated, expensive and immoral. At least give the country a choice, and not force them on us century after century.

Repeal 1660 Restoration of Monarchy Act

Make upkeep of the monarchy optional

Why should my taxes go to pay for a  privelleged, useless, narrow minded bunch of people that have not been voted for in a democratic way?

This antiquated, unpopular and shameful system of  rulership bears no releavance to the way that the vast majority of people in the UK live today.

I want to "opt out" of paying for them to continue to live in their lavish, cosseted lifestyle whilst I, like many others, struggle to survive.

All men are equal!

And err women too. So therefore the Royal family should receive the same amount of money from taxpayers as those seeking work! give me one good reason why should their entitlement be any greater apart from the fact that they accidentally happened to be born into that family?

An Open Monarchy

The monarchy is an undemocratic institution costing the taxpayer millions of pounds per year. Any exemptions protecting the monarchy from Freedom of Information legislation must be overturned. The cost of the monarchy must be completely open to public scrutiny.

Abolish discrimination when choosing future Monarch

There has long been an injustice in that a woman first born to the King/Queen of the day is not the first chosen to be the next monarch of our country. The case of Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden perfectly highlights how in a modern and enlightened country woman are equally chosen as men.

Also, removing the condition that the Monarch has to be a member of the Church of England, and thus indeed forcing the Monarch to a faith perhaps not of his/her choosing is wrong.

Democratically electing a head of state, making us all more free.

We should democratically elect a head of state, and no longer be 'ruled over' by an unelected, undemocratic monarch merely on the basis of his or her birth.
