Harmonisation of Enhanced Services by Pharmacists

  • The NHS should provide a menu of Enhamced Services which should be the same for all parts of teh country.
  • The specification and payments should be the same in all parts of the country
  • Pharmacists should accredit to preform these services nationally

Ban patents on medical equipment, treatments and drugs.

The financial cost of the NHS is growing at such a rate that, increasingly, the government will struggle to fund it. Looking for new ways to raise capitol will not solve the underlying issues . We must uphold our traditional values about the NHS and the rights of all citizens to free healthcare; I propose we achieve this by banning patent rights on pharmaceuticals.

By removing medical patents pharmaceutical companies would provide "for strong price competition between pharmaceutical suppliers and result in considerable savings to the NHS", they would be unable to make profit from manipulating the status of their products, or to deny their products to the poor.

A great deal of medical research comes from tax-payer funded universities and charities; pharmaceutical companies then fund the trials, gain the patent and then hold a monopoly on the treatment that people rely on to survive.

If financial rewards are to be given they should go to the doctors, nurses and other professionals who research, diagnose and administer treatment, not to usurious shareholders.

Available treatments, often costing pennies to manufacture, are sold at such prices that PCT's are unable to afford them, often leading to regional variabilities and postcode lotteries.

Stop wasting public fund by PCT

November 2009 few of us who works with in NHS had a meeting with the directors of swessex pct and gave few ideas how to stop wasting managment cost of pct,and then recently when I heard that new government keen to hear idea then I have sent the following ,

(1) PCT MUST NOT EMPLOY ANY STAFF THROUGH AGENCY.

(2)PCT MUST NOT ISSUE TO ANY NEW STAFF MORE THEN ONE YEAR CONTRACT RENEWABLE IF BOTH PARTIES ARE HAPPY.

(3)CUT DOWN OVERSTAFFING BY LOOKING THEIR CURRENT CONTRACT AND MAKE DECISION BASED ON THE LENGTH OF THE CONTRACT

(4)NO DIRECTOR SHOULD BE ALLOWED HAVE THEIR ASSISTANT AND PA WITH OTHER STAFF

(5)ALL DEPARTMENT MUST BE MONITORED TO MEASURE WHAT HAVE THEY PRODUCED  AND IF THEY DO NOT THEN ACTION TO BE TAKEN .

PCT’S ARE NO LONGER NEEDED

The old Tory Government introduced Fundholding which worked well, then Labour scrapped that and we are currently in Practice Based Commissioning.  If Practices are to receive their own budgets why do we need PCT's to oversee them.  This is another tier of the Health Service which is a waste of money and which could go to patient care. PCT's have been formed, merged, downsized, merged and merged again.  Why so many reorganisations which cost the Health Service millions in redundancy packages, pensions, new buildings etc. etc.  Let's look at the Health Service and streamline it once and for all.
