unpaid tax

The Premier League Football Clubs get away with owing millions of pounds in taxes.  If they have money to buy players they can pay taxes – we have to, or be fined for non-payment.  Why is this?

End farmers relief on rates and avoidance of inheritance tax

Why should farmers get 20% rates relief . Why should farming be a special case and avoid tax on inheritance when a farm is passed to another family member surely as farmers often tell us farming is a business which should be treated like any other . Farmers have been given grants of tax payers money since the war its time this practice stopped.

Passport entitlement

People who choose to live outside of the UK in order to avoid paying tax (income, inheritance capitol gains etc) should lose the right to a British passport and also their right to vote in elections.

Entitlement to a British passport should require a person to pay their full dues to the state. Anyone who chooses to avoid any of the taxes that may be levied has by default shown that they have no social responsibility to this country and therefore the state should require those persons to relinquish their passport. In the same manner, if such persons wish to avoid paying tax then they lose the right to vote.

Companies who promote tax avoidance should be fined double the amount that they have saved each and every tax avoider.

Allow freedom of speech on this website

Yes, you read it right. The "Section 58 Finance Act" discussion has been CENSORED.

The discussion that asked for it to be re-opened has been REMOVED.

This website discussing CIVIL LIBERTIES asking the public WHAT THEY THINK has been censored. It's just too much for the Whitehall Mandarins to bear.

George Orwell would be turning in his grave!

Repeal retrospective elements of section 58, 2008 Finance Act

Section 58 of the 2008 Finance Act attempted to close a perceived tax avoidance loophole, legitimately used and annually declared to HMRC by thousands of self-employed contractors over the last decade.  However, in a move that is unprecedented in UK Tax history, section 58 then back-dated this legislation under the guise of a 'clarification' to 2002.  The legislation is currently being challenged under the European Human Rights act with a hearing due at the Court of Appeal in November.  I propose that this insidious and pernicious legislation, introduced by the previous Labour government, be repealed immediately for the reasons given below.

stop the persecution of Catholics.

Various laws old and new are designed to make being a Catholic a crininal offence.  A catholic cannot be the monarch of this country.  The Catholic Church is discriminated against in equality laws that make some people or groups more equal then others.

National Insurance IS Income Tax

Assumtions:

!  Generally the simpler a system the better it works and it will cost less to run.

2 Tax levels are intended to be set according to a peoples ability to pay.

3. Tax avoidance, usually working to the benefit of the richest membes of society, is legal and widespread.

Suggestions:

1. Merge Employee contribution Tax and NI.  This would increase tax collected as the upper earnings level on NI contributions would disappear. It would simplify Payroll Administration for most companies and avoid yearly software rewrites/updates.

2. Use any staff released by implemeting 1 above, on investigating Tax and Benefit issues. Give them a financial Incentive. No results equals low pay.

Income tax avoidance by corporate employees

There are several tax free incentives that corpoates exploit on behalf of their employees which smaller emplloyers don't know of/can't exploit on behalf of their employees. Corpoates present them along with deals from other firms as benefits -eg vouchers with money off and add them as part of a "reward package". eg Did you know that if you use a push bike for all or part of your journey to work you can claim the income tax paid when you buy a new one? this whole area should be investigated and simplified. In the past the purchase of computer equipment had a tax break too.

Close the tax loopholes…..

Tax loopholes have been untouched by each consecutive government simply because they are used by themselves.

It would be so simple ,just ask any accountant and they can give a list of scams to evade tax.

These loopholes are used by the greedy and selfish better off and the government should be made to justify why they allow these people to evade tax.

tax avoidance / evasion

It used to be a cornerstone of tax law that evasion was illegal and avoidance was legal. In other words it was acceptable to arrange your tax affairs, within the law, to minimise your taxes. In recent years tax avoidance was made illegal so that arranging your affairs within the law was unacceptable if it saved you taxes. The (previous) government even set up structures where they could retrospectively change a tax law if they found it inconvenient.

Even at a time when the government needs tax revenue they, the Treasury and the Revenue will gain much more respect from taxpayers if fairness is re-introduced and making decisions within a clear and definite tax structure is available again.

The domicile rule

This privelege allows so-called "non-doms" to avoid paying tax on in the UK on income kept abroad. This privelege is granted on very tenuous and often fabricated claims to be "domiciled" in other countries.

The Setting up of a Proactive Revenues team to locate and retrieve tax avoidance from all incomes.

too much emphasis is placed on the loss of revenue fromthose in receipt of benefits for which they are not necessarily entitled. The same vigour should be adopted and enforced to investigate and retrieve avoided taxation. Evidence suggests the loss to the Treasury is significant and would pay for the cost of funding investigative teams many times over.

It's about time this was no longer allowed to be treated as a lesser ' crime' than benefit fraud.
