  1. CCTV in Taxis and Cabs. The footage and Audio recordings are not available for download due to being encrypted the driver has no access to the material. Education is the key, passengers and drivers should be informed that the only time footage and audio can be seen is by the Local Council Licensing Office or the Local Police. Footage will not be downloaded without notification to the police of an incident having taken place. This is then viewed either by the Police and Council who will then decide if the footage is usable for evidential purposes either locally to help countermand an accusation or indeed for evidence at a Court of Law.
    CCTV
is a benefit to both the driver and their passengers to help safeguard all parties from violence or sexist and racist abuse etc. Taxi Firms who have CCTV installed have seen an increase in passenger numbers especially lone women and the vulnerable. So surely this is a good thing. Footage can also help in maybe reducing insurance cost’s and of course can be used for any road accidents. Big Brother is not watching you.

ONCE AND FOR ALL CAN PEOPLE STOP THESE PETTY RUMOURS AND WAKE UP TO THE FACT THAT THIS IS A GOOD THING FOR THE INDUSTRY AS A WHOLE. Finally If the trade does not get on board with this, there is the possibility of the Government becomming involved at sometime in the future, and i think we all know that that could make matters even worse.
