Why do the Police insist that original MOT certificates and Insurance Certificates are to be produced at Police Stations after a motoring offence when the information is available to them electronically via VOSA and DVLA.  In this day and age it should be easy for the Police to access via a remote computer link.

Why is this idea important?

This would reduce the amount of time spent  by the Poice on minor offences plus reduce workload at Fleet Management companies who store the MOTs for customers.  Who have to retrive the documents from storage and then re-file once the document is returned.

In many cases the MOT is not returned and then a duplicate MOT is required once the vehicle comes up for sale.
