Why should medium size companies struggle to keep jobs open for maternity leave when they have very few staff. 

Why is this idea important?

We are a medium sized company but only have a few staff.  We had 1 girl go off sick when she found out that she was pregnant, she had full maternity leave plus the extra 6 months.  We had to  contact her to see if she was coming back to work and she said NO!!!.  We were without a key member of staff for 2 years and this is grossly unfair.

We also knew (unofficially) that she had no intention of coming back to work from day 1 when she went off sick.  Its ludicrous
