The idea
I think we should do away with collective religious worship in schools. In a secular state with peoples of all religions and none it is a throw back to the age when we were a very different country where Christianity was a central part of many peoples lives, as they knew no better.
Have a morning assembly by all means but make it an opportunity for reflection on current news or the wider life and aims of the school
Why is it important?
Children should not be indoctrinated at school – they should be taught to think so they can make up their own minds.
